Moonbound turns your phone into a guide for observing the Moon through a telescope: point and it tells you what you're looking at, live. Mount your phone to your telescope's eyepiece with a simple adapter, and Moonbound uses your camera to recognize lunar seas (maria) in real time, right on the live image; no guesswork, no atlas to cross-reference by hand. EVERY NIGHT, A REASON TO LOOK UP Moonbound computes tonight's real moon phase, illumination, and moonrise/culmination/moonset from actual astronomical data, then recommends which lunar features are worth finding tonight, based on what's genuinely visible. GUIDED, ONE DISCOVERY AT A TIME During an observation session, Moonbound walks you through your targets one at a time, never a cluttered screen of overlays. Tap a detected feature for a short, plain-language description. YOUR OBSERVATIONS, REMEMBERED Every feature you find is logged automatically to your personal Observation Journal, grouped by night, no manual note-taking. Revisit any discovery later for a fuller page: diameter, age, and interesting facts. BUILT FOR BEGINNERS, GROUNDED IN REAL ASTRONOMY No accounts, no subscriptions, no configuration. Moonbound works offline (location is optional, only used to show moonrise/set times) and recognizes 10 lunar maria, from Mare Crisium in the east to Oceanus Procellarum in the west, each trained to be identified directly, so even a single visible sea is enough for a confident match. WHAT YOU NEED - An iPhone - A telescope with a simple eyepiece-to-phone adapter - A clear night Whether it's your first time finding Mare Tranquillitatis or your fiftieth night under the stars, Moonbound is a quiet companion for actually understanding what you're seeing.
