Hex MIDI is an isomorphic MIDI controller and microtonal synthesizer. Instead of the standard piano keyboard, notes are arranged in geometric hexagonal grids - meaning chord shapes, scales, and intervals remain identical across every key. Whether you want to play alternative keyboards like the Wicki-Hayden or JankΓ³, compose in 19-EDO / 31-EDO microtonal tunings, or control your DAW over MIDI and MPE, Hex MIDI gives you the tools to explore harmony through geometry. Built-In Keyboard Layouts: β€’ Wicki-Hayden – Classic concertina layout with fifths/fourths diagonals and octave columns. β€’ JankΓ³ (Classic & Vertical) – Whole-tone rows with uniform chord fingerings. β€’ Harmonic Table – Euler's Tonnetz grid: major/minor third diagonals with vertical fifths for visual chord building. β€’ Bosanquet-Wilson (Maupin) – Generalized flat-top hex layout built for microtonal navigation. β€’ Harpejji – Whole-tone string layout with semitone vertical progression. β€’ Chromatic Button Accordion – Authentic C-System and B-System (Bayan) layouts. β€’ Fourths & Fifths – String instrument tunings for guitarists, bassists, and violinists. β€’ Major Thirds & Diminished Harmonica – Symmetrical grid layouts. β€’ Custom Layout Editor – Build and save your own hexagonal or rectangular grids. Microtonal & Tuning Engine: β€’ EDO Presets: 19-EDO, 22-EDO (Shruti), 24-EDO (Quarter-tone / Maqam), 31-EDO (Meantone), 41-EDO, 53-EDO, and sub-12 tunings (5-EDO Slendro, 7-EDO, 10-EDO). β€’ Scale Formats: Bohlen-Pierce (13-EDT), Just Intonation, and custom scale generation. β€’ Scala Support: Import standard .scl tuning files and .kbm keyboard mappings. β€’ Visual Color Modes: 5ths spiral color coding, Tonnetz harmonic spectrum, and minimal two-tone palettes. β€’ Note Labels: Display note names with arrow accidentals, SolfΓ¨ge, interval numbers, or exact Hz. MIDI & Expressive Performance: β€’ MIDI I/O: Connect via USB MIDI to hardware synthesizers, external keyboards, and DAWs (Ableton, Logic, Reaper, Bitwig). β€’ MPE & Vibrato: Per-note microtonal pitch-bend routing and touch vibrato. β€’ MTS Support: Real-time MIDI Tuning Standard SysEx transmission for compatible synths. β€’ Touch Control Pads: Integrated dual X/Y pads for assignable pitch, modulation, and CC filters. β€’ Built-In Sound Engine: High-fidelity soundfont player with instant response.

About

Fingerophone

Features

Fingerophone brings the feel of a classic pocket electronic instrument to your iPhone and iPad: slide a finger to play, with no extra hardware to buy. Slide across the compact hex keyboard to play an electronic tone instantly. It is a real monophonic touch synthesizer that makes its own warm, analog-style sound: two slightly detuned oscillators give it a vintage warmth, a resonant low-pass filter rounds off the digital edge, and vibrato adds the familiar wobble. Every control stays within reach while the note is still playing: - Four waveforms (sine, triangle, saw, square), crossfaded as you switch - Vibrato for the classic pocket-synth wobble - Tone to darken or brighten the sound - Drive to push it from clean into gritty - Volume A live oscilloscope draws the actual signal coming out of the synth, so the screen moves with the sound instead of running a canned animation. Scroll the keyboard across several octaves and play quick melodies, sustained drones, and noisy little riffs. Plug in a MIDI keyboard to play the synth, then map its knobs to the controls with MIDI Learn. The sound is generated on your device. You can play without an account or an internet connection. Whether you want to experiment with a pocket synth, explore warm analog-style sounds, or try a finger-played instrument without buying hardware, Fingerophone keeps everything on one focused screen.
