PopPond teaches first Arabic words in the dialect your family actually speaks. Every card is a real photo, and every word is recorded by a native speaker in seven dialects: Fusha (Modern Standard Arabic), Egyptian, Lebanese, Palestinian, Syrian, Moroccan Darija and Algerian Darija. Whether the family speaks Levantine Arabic, Egyptian Arabic or Darija, the words of home are here. One cat. Seven Arabics. Switch the dialect on any word, any time, and the whole library switches with you. Tap the cat and hear qitta in Fusha, utta in Egyptian, bsayne in Lebanese and mishsha in Moroccan Darija. Each dialect has its own word, which is why one textbook Arabic never sounds like home. Real photos. Real voices. Every card is a photograph, not clip-art. Every word is a recording of a native speaker of that dialect: no speech synthesizer, and never one voice imitating seven. Sixteen books, 300+ words Animals, More Animals, Colors, Numbers, Shapes, Fruits and Vegetables, Things That Go, Around the House, At the Table, In the Kitchen, In the Bathroom, In My Room, Nature, My Body, Clothes and the Arabic alphabet. Each book is a set of photo cards on one subject: a picture dictionary of daily Arabic words, from Arabic animal names to colors and numbers. Learn Arabic offline PopPond is an Arabic learning app that works offline. Every word and every dialect ships inside the app. In the car, on a plane or at the grandparents' house with no wifi, everything still plays. The Arabic alphabet with sound The alphabet book shows each Arabic letter with a photo and a native voice, so the Arabic letters become familiar shapes and sounds. No ads. No sign-up, no accounts, nothing that pops up in the middle of a book. Arabic for beginners The same books work for anyone joining an Arab family and for beginners learning Arabic from the beginning: see the photo, hear the word said by a native speaker, and switch to the dialect you need. Spoken Arabic the way each dialect says it, one word at a time. PopPond. The Arabic your family actually speaks. All Access Ten books are always included. All Access Monthly unlocks every book in every dialect for 1 month and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Rasm
Read full descriptionHide full description
Rasm teaches exactly one skill: reading Arabic script out loud. Not the language. You will not learn what the words mean, and that is on purpose — decoding the script is a separate skill, and it is the one most people never get around to. IT TEACHES THE SHAPES, NOT THE ALPHABET SONG Arabic letters change form depending on where they sit in a word, so the thing you actually have to know is the pair: this letter, in this position. All 34 letters across their 115 positional forms, grouped by the shapes they share rather than by alphabetical order. IT KNOWS WHAT KIND OF MISTAKE YOU MADE Most letters differ only by dots. When you misread one, Rasm can tell you that you read two dots above where there was one below — and it shows you, by lifting the wrong dots off and leaving the bare skeleton on screen for half a second before the right ones land. IT WEANS YOU OFF THE VOWEL MARKS Beginner material is written with harakat; real text is not. Rasm fades them per shape, on a schedule, until you are reading what is actually printed. IT SCHEDULES THE PRACTICE FOR YOU A proven spaced-repetition algorithm (FSRS) decides what comes back and when, from how you actually answer — never from asking you to rate yourself. Five to ten minutes a day. No advertising, no account, no tracking of any kind. Nothing leaves your phone, and it works with the network switched off.
