Unlock your brain's full potential with Digit Span Backwords, the ultimate cognitive training app designed to boost your working memory, concentration, and focus. Based on the scientifically proven "backward digit span task"—a gold-standard cognitive assessment used by psychologists and neuroscientists worldwide—our game challenges your brain to hear a sequence of numbers and recall them in reverse order. It’s a simple yet highly effective way to stretch your short-term memory and enhance mental agility. ■ WHY TRAIN YOUR WORKING MEMORY? Working memory is the mental workspace you use to hold and manipulate information. A stronger working memory is linked to: • Better focus and distraction resistance • Faster problem-solving and fluid intelligence • Enhanced learning ability and academic performance • Improved daily productivity and cognitive stamina ■ KEY FEATURES • Adaptive Difficulty: Start with a comfortable 3-digit sequence. As you get consecutive answers right, the sequence automatically scales up—all the way to an elite 15 digits! • 10-Question Sessions: Get a quick, high-intensity brain workout anytime, anywhere. Perfect for daily commutes or brief breaks. • Customizable Practice Mode: Train without pressure. Set your starting digits, adjust digit playback speeds, and choose between fixed difficulty or adaptive scaling. • Comprehensive Statistics: Track your cognitive growth over time with interactive charts. Monitor your score trend, accuracy, best span, and leveling progress. • Multi-Language Spoken Audios: Train in multiple languages. Switch both the UI text and audio voiceovers to English, Japanese, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, or Korean. • Speed Multiplier & Combo System: Answer quickly to trigger speed bonuses. Chain correct answers to build combos and maximize your score! • Premium Visuals & Haptics: Enjoy a sleek, modern UI with smooth transitions and satisfying haptic feedback that makes training feel like a premium gaming experience. ■ WHO IS THIS APP FOR? • Students: Retain complex information and perform better on exams. • Professionals: Juggle tasks, remember details, and stay highly productive. • Seniors: Combat cognitive decline and keep your mind vibrant. • Gamers: Enhance split-second decision-making and awareness. ■ THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE TRAINING Thanks to neuroplasticity, your brain is incredibly adaptable. By practicing the backward digit span task, you directly stimulate the prefrontal cortex—the brain region responsible for executive functions. Just like a muscle, your brain needs regular workouts to grow stronger. Our adaptive algorithm keeps you at the edge of your limits, the exact "sweet spot" needed to trigger real neurological growth. ■ PRIVACY-FIRST & OFFLINE PLAY Digit Span Backwords works completely offline, making it perfect for flights or commutes. All performance stats are stored securely on your device, keeping your data private. Commit just 5 minutes a day to your mental fitness journey! ■ HOW IT WORKS 1. Listen carefully to a sequence of numbers spoken aloud. 2. Recall the numbers and enter them in reverse order using the on-screen keypad. 3. If you hear "3 - 7 - 1", you type "1 - 7 - 3". 4. Correct answers increase the difficulty, while incorrect ones bring it back down to keep you in the optimal learning zone. Whether you want to keep your mind sharp as you age, boost your focus, or study for a cognitive test, Digit Span Backwords is your daily companion for mental fitness. Download now and start testing your brain's limits! Author: Takeuchi, H., et al. (2010) Title: Training of working memory impacts structural connectivity Content: This MRI study proves that consistent working memory training physically strengthens structural connectivity in the brain's prefrontal and parietal networks. It provides strong evidence of neuroplasticity, showing how training optimizes neural circuits.
Working Memory Lab
Read full descriptionHide full description
Working memory is the ability to hold something in your head and use it a moment later. Keeping a shopping list in mind. Taking notes while the teacher is still talking. Doing sums without paper. It quietly sits underneath almost everything we get done in a day. Working Memory Lab trains that ability with nine mini games. One to two minutes a round, for kids and grown-ups alike. NINE MINI GAMES - Reverse Recall — colours appear one by one; tap them back in reverse. Rearranging in your head. - Match Back — tap when a picture matches the one a few steps back. Taking in the new while letting go of the old (an n-back task). - Cup Shuffle — follow the swapping cups and find the ball. - Dual Task — solve a sum, then memorise a picture, over and over. The real thing: holding on while busy. - Copy the Order — tap the animals in the order they appeared. - Take the Order — remember what each table ordered. Some come alone, some as a family. - Number Flash — numbers flash by; add them all up in your head. - Math Relay — "plus 3", "times 2" — keep the running total going. - Grid Memory — remember which squares lit up, wait while the board goes dark, then tap them. BUILT TO KEEP YOU COMING BACK - Six levels, from Easy to Legend - Score grows with speed and with answers in a row - 24 badges and six ranks to climb - A daily play streak - Memory span — see, as a number, how much you can reliably hold - The app spots your weakest game and suggests practice SAFE FOR CHILDREN - No account. Everything stays on the device. - No ads. No in-app purchases. - Works fully offline. - Large type, clear colours, spoken prompts. - A short how-to appears before you play a game for the first time. FOUR LANGUAGES English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish — text and voice both. Switch any time from Settings. A little every day. That is how memory grows.
