FlightKit is the pilot's toolbox — plan, fly, and stay current, with checkride prep built in. One app instead of five, for pilots at every stage: students, certificated pilots, and CFIs. WEATHER & CHARTS • Live METARs and TAFs with plain-English decoding • Interactive VFR sectionals and IFR enroute charts with color-coded station dots (VFR/MVFR/IFR/LIFR) and NEXRAD radar • Airport pages with runways, frequencies, and NOTAMs AI ROUTE PLANNER • Enter a departure and destination and get a complete VFR nav log — checkpoints, magnetic headings, groundspeed, and leg ETAs • Automatically routes around Class B and C airspace • Drag any waypoint on the sectional to fine-tune your route, and the nav log recalculates instantly PREFLIGHT & PERFORMANCE Set your home airport once and every tool auto-loads live weather and runway data: • Weight & Balance with aircraft-specific profiles • Takeoff & Landing performance with best-runway logic • Crosswind and density-altitude calculators, plus a full E6B SMART CHECKLISTS • Interactive checklists for every phase of flight — import them straight from your aircraft's POH with AI, or build your own • Auto-fill items pull live data right into the checklist: altimeter setting, wind, favored runway, crosswind, and radio frequencies fill themselves from real-time METARs and airport data • Hands-free voice mode reads each item aloud and advances when you answer — eyes outside, hands on the airplane GO / NO-GO • Weather and risk assessment against your own personal minimums, for safer fly/no-fly decisions LOGBOOK & CURRENCY • Log flights and track hours and training milestones • Currency tracking for flight review, day and night landings, and instrument experience STUDY & CHECKRIDE PREP • Ground school across 11 ACS areas of operation with examiner tips and real-world scenarios • Practice tests and spaced-repetition flashcards tailored to your aircraft • AI Examiner — a DPE-style mock oral that asks, listens, and grades you against the ACS ASK FLIGHTKIT • Your aviation expert on call — weather, regulations, performance, systems, and procedures, grounded in your aircraft's POH TUNED TO YOUR AIRCRAFT Add your aircraft by tail number and FlightKit tailors V-speeds, weight & balance, performance, flashcards, and AI answers to your specific plane. Built-in POH data for a growing list of common training and GA types from Piper, Cessna, Diamond, Beechcraft, and more. IMPORTANT FlightKit is a reference and training aid. It does not replace official FAA publications, your Pilot's Operating Handbook, or instruction from a certificated flight instructor. Always verify critical information against official sources. SUBSCRIPTIONS FlightKit is free to download, and weather, airports, charts, and study reading stay free. Optional auto-renewing subscriptions (Pilot and Pro, billed monthly or annually) unlock the full toolbox. Current prices are shown in the app before you purchase. ATC Trainer

Practice ATC radio calls out loud and get a verdict that does not wobble. A controller transmits, you key the mic and read back. Your transmission is graded element by element — callsign, runway, frequency, altitude, heading, squawk — on your device, with no network call and no model deciding how it feels today. Same readback, same verdict, every time. SAY IT LIKE A PILOT, NOT LIKE A SCRIPT Read the elements back in any order. Add "with you", "roger", your own filler — none of it costs you a point. Skip an optional element and you keep the credit. What gets checked is what the controller actually needs to hear back. "tree" or "three", "niner" or "nine", "fife" or "five" — all accepted. Your readback is judged on meaning. The controller still speaks strictly by the regional standard, so what you hear stays correct. MISHEARD IS NOT A MISTAKE When speech recognition does not catch you, it is not scored against you. You get a neutral prompt and a retry, and it does not count. A headset pulled out mid-transmission should not look like a botched clearance. 35 SCENARIOS, 187 EXCHANGES - VFR: traffic pattern, Class B and Class C transitions, flight following, Special VFR, closed traffic and the option, Delta transitions - IFR: full CRAFT clearances, void times at a closed tower, vectors, ILS, RNAV and visual approaches, holding, missed approach, en route with Center, weather deviation, pop-up clearance - Abnormal: go-around, rough engine, minimum fuel, windshear and runway change, weather diversion, traffic alert, VFR into weather, cancelled takeoff REAL RADIO, REAL WORKFLOW - Push to talk, the way you actually transmit - Built to work in a headset, wired or Bluetooth - Controller speed, pauses between element groups and radio-band effect, all adjustable - Pick the controller voice - Fully offline: recognition and grading both stay on the device NATO PHONETIC ALPHABET, FREE - All 26 letters and 10 digits, with audio and IPA - Morse code - Quiz you answer out loud - Translator: type a name, an address or a booking reference and read it back to the call centre letter by letter WHAT IS FREE The whole NATO layer and the translator. Radio realism, speed, pauses and voice selection — those are free too, because the material is what is sold, not the sound. Two of the 35 scenarios are free: the Melbourne traffic pattern and coastal flight following. No account, no card, no sign-up to try it. WHO IT IS FOR - Student pilots working toward a first solo or a checkride - Rated pilots getting current again after time off - Pilots who do not speak English as a first language and want the phraseology to come out without hesitating - Flight simmers getting ready for VATSIM or IVAO - Instructors who want a repeatable drill between lessons NO ADS Not now, not later. ATC TRAINER PRO Unlocks the remaining scenarios. Prices, trial length and renewal terms are shown on the purchase screen in your local currency before anything is charged. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings. ATC Trainer is a practice aid for radio phraseology. It is not an FAA publication, not a substitute for instruction from a CFI, and not for use in flight. Airport, frequency and procedure data is there to make practice realistic and is not maintained for navigation. Verdict
The clearest difference is iOS requirement: FlightKit at 15.0 against ATC Trainer's 17.6. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. FlightKit sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and ATC Trainer sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
