Pingly is a small, fast network tool for people who want to know what their connection is actually doing. Type in a host or IP, watch the ICMP replies come back in real time, and keep a running score on your Internet quality. If you chase latency for work, hunt down lag before a match, or just have a Wi-Fi connection you don't trust, Pingly gives you the real numbers as they happen. PING ANY HOST • Real ICMP echo requests, the same kind the ping command sends • A live reply stream with sequence number, packet size and round-trip time • Running stats: sent, received, lost, loss %, min, avg, max and jitter • Quick-pick hosts, and switching targets starts a fresh session • Color-coded latency, so a slow reply is easy to spot INTERNET QUALITY MONITOR • A running 0-100 connection score with a letter grade from A+ to F • A live breakdown of latency, jitter, packet loss and stability • A scrolling signal graph and a one-line, plain-English read on how things look • Pause, resume, or switch targets whenever you want SONAR · AUDIBLE PING • A tone for every reply, pitched by round-trip time - fast replies ring high, slow ones drop low • A healthy connection sounds like a steady, high chime, so a latency spike is a note you can hear fall • Timeouts and dropped packets get their own distinct downward thud • A live tone-bar strip that scrolls along with the stream • Four voices to choose from sine, triangle, square or pluck • Leave it running with the screen off; it respects the mute switch SESSION HISTORY • Every ping run is saved automatically • A latency chart and full stats for each one • Save the hosts you use most for one-tap pinging • Recent sessions with small sparklines so you can scan them fast SETTINGS • Set the ping interval, packet size and timeout • System, Light or Dark appearance • Monospaced, tabular numbers that hold steady as they update PRIVACY • No account, no ads • Nothing leaves your phone. Pingly only pings the hosts you point it at. That's the whole app. It just tells you how your connection is doing.
NoirShield

NoirShield is a network tool that runs entirely on your device. It encrypts your DNS lookups and can match them against blocklists stored on the device. Your traffic is never routed through a server of ours: there is nothing to relay it through, and your IP address does not change. ENCRYPTED DNS Resolve names over DNS-over-HTTPS or DNS-over-TLS. Choose from built-in encrypted resolvers or enter your own custom endpoint. Measure them on the network you are on and switch to the fastest. ON-DEVICE FILTERING Optional lists for ads and trackers, malware, phishing and crypto mining — 470,943 domains, matched on the device. Every list is off until you turn it on. You can import your own list and add your own allow and block rules, which take priority. DIAGNOSTICS Fourteen checks: reachability, IPv4 and IPv6, captive portals, latency, DNS resolution, DNS interception, DoH, DoT, HTTPS, TLS, QUIC, WebSocket and UDP. AUTOFIX Measures the network, applies a compatibility profile, verifies the result and remembers what worked for that network. NO ACCOUNT No sign-up, no sign-in, no subscription. Nothing about your lookups is uploaded. The activity log stays in memory and is gone when the app closes, unless you switch on "Keep activity after restart" in Settings. The app reaches our server for two things only: signed blocklist updates, and the connection tests while you are running diagnostics. NoirShield is not a country-switching VPN. It has no relay or proxy server, does not change your IP address and never decrypts HTTPS. On iPhone and iPad, iOS shows its own VPN badge whenever an on-device tunnel is running; NoirShield uses that tunnel only to hand DNS queries to the resolver on your device.

Verdict
Pingly and NoirShield are too close to call on the numbers: across 5 compared parameters — price, ads, in-app purchases and device support among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
