3:47 a.m. The line goes dead. On the other end, someone stopped breathing – and your only way to the truth is the cursor blinking in front of you. Solve a real crime entirely inside a terminal. No subscription. No ads. Fully offline. The first case is free. YOU ARE THE INVESTIGATOR No cutscene does the work for you, no tapping on suspects. You type commands: • scan sweeps the network • connect opens a session on someone else's machine • cat reads the files and mail • decrypt uncovers what someone tried to hide • crack breaks the login between you and the truth What you type is how you think. REAL CASES, REAL SOLUTIONS Every case is a self-contained crime with a solution you have to find yourself. You read, you deduce, you name the culprit – and how you get there is up to you. WHAT TO EXPECT • A story written like crime fiction – not a tutorial with a plot glued on • No timer, no twitch: just you and the evidence • Fair by design: no dead ends, no game over – a wrong turn never costs you your evening • Hints that only nudge: a push at 2 a.m., never the whole answer • Choices with weight: your final decision has its own epilogue YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS No account needed. Runs fully offline. No ads, no tracking. Everything you do stays on your device. PAY FAIRLY INSTEAD OF SUBSCRIBING The Prologue is a complete case, free – play it start to finish, then decide. Murder & Method

The Society receives the files that even the Yard cannot close. You are its newest candidate. Every case begins with a floor plan, a handful of people and their statements. Each row and each column contains exactly one figure. The murderer is whoever was alone in a room with the victim. Every statement is true. Every case has a solution, and the cards prove it. Everything you need to find it is right in front of you. No guessing. No clock. No luck. Just deduction. HOW TO PLAY • Read the statements. Each card reveals something about where a person was standing. • Reconstruct the scene. Place the figures, eliminate what is impossible and keep track of what remains open. • Ask the Inspector. If you get stuck, three levels of hints are available – each a little more explicit, always based on your own board. • Make your accusation. The Society does not ask for suspicion. It asks for proof. THE LONDON CASEBOOK 120 files. London, 1928–1940. A séance in Chelsea. A boxing hall after midnight. The Underground at night. A diamond office in Hatton Garden. An incident high above the rooftops of St Paul’s. Across twelve years, guests, suspects and victims return again and again. Some names disappear. Others return. The casebook can be browsed chronologically or by file series. The cases lead from your first admission file to the Master Files. The difficulty grows not through ever larger boards, but through what matters: the depth of the deduction. THE PRACTICE ROOM Members also gain access to the Society’s practice room. There, earlier crime scenes are reconstructed with new casts and recombined again and again. No one dies. Everyone learns. AN ILLUSTRATED WORLD Painterly character portraits, illustrated crime scenes and furnishings, and a casebook inspired by the London of the late 1920s and 1930s. Murder & Method is fully available in English, German, Italian, Spanish and French. MEMBERSHIP The ten files of the admission examination are free. Those who pass may join the Society. A single purchase unlocks the remaining 110 files of the London Casebook. Introductory price until 31 December 2026. The regular price applies thereafter. No ads. No subscription. No account. No tracking. No energy. No coins. Fully playable offline on iPhone and iPad. Made in Düsseldorf by Lindhavn Studio.

Verdict
EXIT NODE and Murder & Method are too close to call on the numbers: across 5 compared parameters — price, ads, in-app purchases and device support among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.

Both are free to download. EXIT NODE sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Murder & Method sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
