Benchmark
Read full descriptionHide full description
Benchmark answers one question: how strong are you, really? Not "is 100 kg a good bench" - the answer depends on who you are. Benchmark compares your lifts against published strength standards for your sex, your bodyweight and your age, and tells you the percentile you land in. You bench more than 87% of men in your class. That's a sentence, not a vibe. WHAT YOU GET, FREE - Your percentile for squat, bench press and deadlift, plus an overall score. - A share card built for Instagram Stories and TikTok. Big number, your lifts, your class. Designed to be posted, not to advertise. - Entry in kilograms or pounds. - Sets at submaximal loads. Enter 100 kg for 5 and Benchmark estimates your one-rep max with both the Epley and Brzycki formulas, and shows you both, because they disagree. BENCHMARK PRO - Progress over time. Every percentile you have ever hit, charted, with the moment you crossed each threshold. - Age-adjusted standards. Compared against lifters your own age, not just your weight. - The overhead press, alongside the three competition lifts. - Multiple profiles. HOW THE NUMBERS WORK Your percentile is relative to people who train these lifts, not to the general population. Standards are derived from published strength-standard tables, and the app shows its sources on the Methodology screen. Bodyweight is a continuous scale, not a weight class, so gaining a kilogram never swings your percentile by ten points. Age is applied as a smooth coefficient, so nothing changes on your birthday. Benchmark treats your number as an estimate, and says so. An app that inflates your percentile is worthless the moment you post it in front of someone who knows the sport. PRIVACY No account. No sign-up. No tracking. No analytics. Your lifts live on your device. If you are signed into iCloud they sync to your own private CloudKit database, which nobody else - including the developer - can read. Vertical Jump Training made Fun. Vertly is your personal vertical jump coach, led by Cam Hazzard, a pro dunker who tested a 50 inch vertical while working two jobs and going to school full time. Not by grinding for hours. By training smart and enjoying the climb. Jumping high isn't genetics. It's a skill. Change the small things and anyone can get off the ground. Vertly gives you the plan, the coach, and a reason to keep showing up. WHAT YOU GET - Your own AI coach, in Cam's voice. Ask anything about jumping higher, your training, or your plan, and get a real answer any time. - Air Levels. Your vertical shown as an altimeter, so you can watch every inch you climb and see how close you are to the rim. - Smart training plans built around your body, your gear, and your goal. Efficient, not obsessive. - The Climb. Your whole journey, from day one to your next ceiling, as a road you actually move along. - A weight room and lift log that keeps the work honest. - Your dunk collection. Earn and collect cards as you level up. HONEST TO THE INCH The coach can only help with the truth, so Vertly is built on real numbers. No inflation, no fake guarantees, no plus fifteen inches in three months. Just the next right step, over and over, until you are off the ground. Vertly is free to start. Log one honest jump and let's find your ceiling. "I believe vertical jump training is something all athletes should be genuinely excited to train." Verdict
Benchmark and Vertly are too close to call on the numbers: across 5 compared parameters — price, ads, in-app purchases and device support among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Benchmark sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and Vertly sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
