Bob is a giant snail. He's behind you on the path, and he never stops moving. Your real daily steps are the only thing keeping him off your back. Snail Walk turns your actual step count into a survival game. Every step you take in real life moves you forward on the path. Stop walking, and Bob - patient, unbothered, always moving - closes the gap. Catch up, and he's still coming. There is no version of this where he gives up. This is the only walking app where you can lose. HOW IT WORKS - Connect Apple Health. Your daily steps become distance on the path. - Hold to advance - spend your banked steps to move forward, or save them for a day you can't walk. - Bob advances at his own pace, whether or not you open the app. - If he catches you, you die. A tombstone is placed at your distance, permanently visible to every other player who walks past. Other apps reward you for moving. Bob doesn't care either way, he's not angry, not disappointed, just walking, same as you. He never stops. If you do, he catches up. A SHARED WORLD Every player walks the same path. Pass other pilgrims, walk by their graves, pay respects at a tombstone with a candle, a stone, or a flower. Compete on the Hall of Fame leaderboard for furthest distance ever survived. SET YOUR OWN PACE Bob's speed is adjustable - start easier, or make it brutal. It's the only setting that's yours to change, and it's never for sale. WHAT YOU GET One-time purchase or subscription. No ads. No free tier. No pay-to-win. Cosmetics (characters, tombstone styles) are optional and never affect the chase. Requires Apple Health step access. No GPS, no location tracking, ever. A snail is coming for you. It hatched near you and it already knows where you are. It moves in a straight line, through buildings, through rivers, through anything in the way. It does not sleep and it never loses you. Walking is the only thing that holds it back. HOW IT WORKS The snail crawls toward your real location, day and night, whether the app is open or not. It starts at about two miles a day and gets faster every three days you survive. Every step you take pushes it back. Snail reads the step count your iPhone already records, so it does not matter where you walk or how fast. A walk to the mailbox counts. A shift on your feet counts. Most of each walk pushes the snail away, and the rest is banked for later. Driving away does not help. Only steps buy distance, and heading toward it is a very bad idea. If it reaches you, the game is over. Days survived is your score. A new snail hatches at 6am. WHAT YOU CAN SEE Far away, you only get a rough idea of where it is. The closer it gets, the more precisely you know. Inside a thousand feet, you see exactly where it is. SALT AND SHELL Salt freezes the snail for six hours. You start with one and earn another every week you survive. Shell pushes it back three miles. It costs five banked miles. IT TELLS YOU WHEN IT IS CLOSE A notification at one mile, at half a mile, and when it is on your street. A word in the morning and in the evening on how the day is going. PRIVACY No account, no sign up, no email address. No ads, no trackers, no purchases. Snail reads your step count from Apple Health and writes nothing back. Your location is used to play the game. Nothing is sold and nothing is shared. BATTERY Snail uses your location in the background, because the snail does not stop when you close the app. While it is far away, Snail checks your position rarely. It only checks often when the snail is close.
