Backyard Chickens replaces the notebook by the coop door with a real egg log, flock manager, and breed advisor built for keepers who actually collect eggs every morning. Log every egg by flock or by hen, watch your laying trends over time, and get plain-English answers about breeds, coop sizing, and molt timing whenever you need them. Keeping chickens generates more numbers than most people expect โ€” egg counts, feed costs, molt cycles, and which hen actually earns her keep. Backyard Chickens turns that into a simple daily habit instead of a notebook full of half-remembered tallies, so the fifteen seconds it takes to log this morning's eggs actually adds up to something useful by the end of the season. WHAT YOU CAN DO โ€ข Egg log โ€” record every egg collected, by flock or per individual hen โ€ข Multiple flocks โ€” track separate flocks with their own birds, notes, and egg history โ€ข Per-hen records โ€” breed, age, and production history for each bird, not just a flock total โ€ข Laying trends โ€” see production rates, a producer ranking for every hen, and upcoming molt forecasts built from your own log โ€ข Breed library โ€” reference details on common backyard chicken breeds before you add new birds โ€ข AI coop & breed advisor โ€” ask which breeds fit your climate and how to size your coop, with guidance only, never veterinary advice โ€ข Feed & cost tracking โ€” see your real cost per egg, not just a guess โ€ข Flock notes โ€” coop location, temperament, and care routines saved right on each flock โ€ข Full history at a glance โ€” days logged and eggs collected over any stretch of time, per flock or per bird WHY BACKYARD CHICKENS โ€ข Built around the daily habit โ€” logging today's eggs takes seconds, not a trip to find a notebook โ€ข Real trends, not just totals โ€” molt forecasts and laying-rate charts come from your own history, not a generic chart โ€ข Per-hen detail when you want it โ€” know which bird is actually productive and which has slowed down โ€ข Advisor that knows your setup โ€” breed and coop guidance factors in your climate and flock size โ€ข Cost clarity โ€” feed tracking turns "how much does this hobby cost" into an actual number WHO IT'S FOR โ€ข Backyard keepers with one flock who want a simple daily egg log โ€ข Growing operations managing several flocks and dozens of birds โ€ข New keepers choosing their first breeds and sizing a coop for the first time โ€ข Anyone who wants to know their real cost per egg instead of estimating it โ€ข Anyone who has ever wondered which hen actually stopped laying and when Backyard Chickens' advisor gives general husbandry guidance, not veterinary advice โ€” for a sick or injured bird, always consult a poultry vet. For the daily routine, it's the egg log, the flock records, and the laying trends that turn keeping chickens into something you actually understand instead of guess at. Download Backyard Chickens and give every flock the record it deserves. About

CoopLog

Features

Everything CoopLog has always done is included with no bird cap, no history window and no export limit. No account, no email, no sign-in, and it all works in airplane mode in the middle of the coop. ONE TAP, GLOVES ON - A thumb-sized +1 button in the lower third, reachable one-handed - +5, +10 and +12 beside it, and a long press for any other number - Every tap is a timestamped collection; the day's total is their sum - A date strip lands on any past day in two taps - "None today" records a REAL zero, distinct from a day you never logged. CoopLog never divides by days you did not log. - Missed a week? Catch Up fills it in a few taps; missed days never count against your averages. "WHY'D THEY STOP?" When your eggs fall 30% or more, CoopLog opens a report that rules each cause in or out from YOUR OWN records and prints the number it used: the same weeks in prior years, daylight hours against the 14-hour threshold (computed on device from a latitude you type once), flock age, bird-count changes, treatments, feed gaps, logging completeness, and one-tap flags for broody hens, hidden nests and predator scares. THE BREAK-EVEN LEDGER Cost per dozen with the literal formula and your own numbers substituted. Feed is charged by what was eaten, not by what was bought, so a new bag never spikes the figure. Running and all-in figures, always labelled. FEED YOU CAN CORRECT Log weight and cost, watch feed on hand count down by what your birds actually eat, and get a restock warning before the bag runs out. "About half a bag left" is a dated correction, never a silent overwrite. EGGS, CARTONS, SALES AND WHO OWES YOU On hand = collected โˆ’ sold โˆ’ eaten โˆ’ given โˆ’ discarded, oldest first, and it can never go negative. Pack cartons with the pack date and the oldest lay date for the label. Sales with dozens, price, customer and a paid flag; a per-customer balance and a one-tap reminder. TREATMENTS AND EGG WITHDRAWAL The withdrawal window starts at the FIRST dose, the banner names the first safe date, and eggs in the window are kept out of sales while still counted in production. CHARTS, EXPORT AND BACKUP Day, week and month charts with last year overlaid. CSV per record type plus a daily summary. One-file backup and restore, and automatic daily snapshots in your own iCloud Drive, so a new phone only needs the app and a tap on Restore. WIDGETS AND SIRI A Home Screen and Lock Screen widget with a one-tap Add egg button, and Shortcuts for logging eggs, logging none, today's count and feed purchases. COOPLOG PRO (OPTIONAL) Everything above stays exactly as it is. CoopLog Pro adds new tools for keepers who sell their extra eggs or plan ahead: - Lay Forecast: six weeks ahead from your own history, daylight and flock age, and a plain sentence about when they'll be back after winter. Recomputed every day. - Standing orders and the Week Sheet: who gets eggs this week, whether the hens can cover it, who is short, and a reminder the evening before each delivery. - Receipts, customer statements and carton labels as PDFs, with your farm name and a best-by date. - Stand numbers and the Season Report: profit by month, a suggested price for your margin, and the year's numbers ready at tax time. - Hatch calendar: set a clutch and get every candling day, lockdown and hatch day as a reminder, then add the chicks in one tap. CoopLog Pro is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time purchase; full details, prices and terms are shown in the app before you buy. Keepers who installed CoopLog before 3.0 get Pro automatically until April 2027. HONESTY Every computed number shows the inputs behind it. Estimates are labelled estimates. Withdrawal values are reference values; follow the product label. CoopLog is not veterinary or financial advice.
