Lumo Browser
Read full descriptionHide full description
Lumo is a browser for phones, tablets and foldables. On a tablet or an unfolded foldable, pages load as their full desktop versions — the whole site, not a phone layout. On a phone, pages load in their mobile versions and fill the screen, with the controls where your thumb is. Beside the page is an assistant that has already read it: ask it something, or have it do the work. AT HOME ON EVERY SCREEN · Tablet and unfolded foldable: a sidebar beside the page, a toolbar on top, side panels and two pages side by side · Phone and folded foldable: the address bar and buttons at the bottom, a sidebar that slides out from the left edge, panels that rise from below · Fold or unfold and the layout follows without reloading the page · Choose the desktop or mobile version for any single site, on that device only · Right-click menus, link hover, keyboard shortcuts; trackpad and mouse scrolling ride the system's own path · Per-site zoom, appearance, fonts, camera and microphone permissions, remembered for each site A NEW START PAGE · Pure white or pure black, with your search field and favorite sites · An optional character-art background — fish, spaceships, or two people who meet and walk on hand in hand — drawn on your device with no network access AN ASSISTANT BESIDE THE PAGE · It has read the page before you open it · Ask in your own language about a page in another, and the lines it found light up · What is not on the page, it says is not on the page · Say what you want done: export a PDF or a long screenshot, download an image, save a table, open and close tabs, put two pages side by side, write a note · Answers can come as charts, tables and cards · Bring your own key, or sign in with a subscription you already have. Lumo has no server; questions do not pass through us. · Part of Lumo Pro SPACES · Each Space owns its tabs and pinned sites, color-coded and a swipe apart · Pages you use stay alive; when the system needs memory back, tabs keep their address and scroll position · Closing a tab or clearing a whole Space can be undone PINNED SITES AND FOLDERS · Everyday sites in a grid; the rest in folders within folders, arranged by dragging · Rename any of them WEB EXTENSIONS · Compatible Web Extensions from extension stores or files you have; pin three to the toolbar. Browsing the store is free; installing needs Lumo Pro. AD AND TRACKER BLOCKING · Engine-level rules stop requests before they download — faster, lighter pages · Third-party requests only, so sign-ins keep working; one switch, or allow a single site NOTES, TRANSLATION, PASSWORDS · A notes panel beside the page, synced to your other devices · Select text to translate it; in a text field, replace the original · Passwords in the system's secure storage, filled after you unlock; backups encrypted with a passphrase only you know ALSO · PDFs, downloads, temporary link previews, history by date with search and delete, your own background, several app icons, light and dark LUMO PRO (lifetime purchase or auto-renewable subscription — buy once, use it on all your devices) · Web extensions, the translation lens (whole-page translation is free) and the assistant · Page markup with a pen or a finger, kept for when the page comes back · Media grid for every picture and video in one or several tabs · Video speed and picture in picture for any site, with ambient light · Professional Web Toolkit: extract images, links, tables and videos; inspect resources and storage; export PDFs and long screenshots; custom CSS per site · User scripts, sessions, page monitors, avatar ornaments, daylight and a daily line Browsing history stays on your device. It is never uploaded. Privacy Policy: https://greatgithubfish.github.io/Lumo-Browser-Support/privacy.html Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
Rectoly for Zotero
Read full descriptionHide full description
Rectoly is the research-focused PDF reader built for Zotero users. Your library stays in Zotero — Rectoly makes reading and annotating on iPhone, iPad and Mac a genuine pleasure. READING MODE Academic papers are often formatted in two columns, making them hard to read on a phone. Reading Mode reflows the content into a single, clean column — without losing access to the original PDF. Jump back to the exact page anytime. ANNOTATE IN READING MODE Unlike other readers, Rectoly lets you highlight, underline, add sticky notes, and draw with Apple Pencil — all while staying in Reading Mode. No need to switch back to the raw PDF just to mark something up. ON-DEVICE TRANSLATION Read an English paper in your own language, in Reading Mode and on the PDF page. Translation runs on this device; the paper is never sent to a translation service. If you agree, translations are saved to your Zotero library for your other devices (using your Zotero storage). The app's translation model (about 2.5 GB) needs 8 GB of memory or more. Translates English papers into the app's 19 other display languages: Hindi by the system's translator (iOS 26 or later), all the rest by the app's own model. TOOLS FOR READING Read Aloud: hear the text in Reading Mode, in the system voice or the VoiceOver one. Choose the typeface and line spacing in Reading Mode. “Darken PDF pages” softens text and paper to gray tones while leaving figures and photos in their original colors when possible. SPLIT VIEW INSIDE THE READER Keep Reading Mode open while glancing at a figure, the original layout, or another section — side by side, all within a single window. No multi-window setup required. RESEARCH THEMES Send a passage to a theme, with its source. Keep the theme beside the paper, or open it as a sheet. Export as Markdown or Word (.docx). ACROSS PAPERS The library column has a new Across papers tab: search the annotations, the text and your handwriting in your whole library at once. FIGURES, TABLES AND A COMPARISON Save a figure as PNG and a table as CSV — one paper at a time, or your whole library in one go. Compare many papers' abstracts, methods, results and conclusions in one table, one row per paper. YOUR DRAFT BESIDE THE PAPER Open the document you are writing (.docx, .doc, .odt, .rtf, Markdown, plain text — password-protected ones too) in a column next to the paper. It re-reads the file every time you save. CITING AND NOTES Copy with page, copy BibTeX or citation keys (Zotero 7's keys and Better BibTeX's are used), and a Notes folder for Obsidian and others — with keyboard shortcuts you can change. ZOTERO SYNC Annotations you create are written back to Zotero automatically. Highlights from Zotero Desktop or other apps appear in Rectoly automatically. Your notes are always in one place. WEBDAV AND LINKED FILES If Zotero syncs your files over WebDAV, Rectoly can now open them — and PDFs you add in the app go to your WebDAV server too. Files that ZotFile or ZotMoov keep in Dropbox or Google Drive open once you choose the folder. WORKS OFFLINE Downloaded PDFs and annotations are stored locally. Read anywhere, anytime — even without an internet connection. SEARCH YOUR HANDWRITING Notes you write with Apple Pencil are now read as text on your device, so you can search them (iPadOS 27 and later). 14-DAY FREE TRIAL → ONE-TIME PURCHASE Try every Pro feature for free for 14 days. Verdict
Lumo Browser and Rectoly for Zotero are too close to call on the numbers: across 6 compared parameters — price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Lumo Browser sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Rectoly for Zotero sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
