You scroll anyway. Now it's Spanish. Carpi turns scrolling into listening: short clips of people speaking everyday Spanish, and a route that teaches you to answer back. THE FEED Swipe up and the next clip plays. Subtitles run along in Spanish and in your language, line by line, in time with the video. Tap any word to see what it means and hear it spoken. Save it, and it comes up in your next word round, so what you heard doesn't just scroll away. Every time you open the app, the feed starts with clips you haven't seen yet. Clips play from YouTube. THE ROUTE You land in Buenos Aires, Mexico City or Madrid, and the Spanish you learned doesn't sound like the Spanish around you. The route teaches you the Spanish you'll actually hear, one step at a time. Seventy-five places, one street. A café where you say hello, sit down, order, ask the waiter for something and pay. A kiosk, a market, a bus stop, a pharmacy, a phone call. Every place is one thing you can do afterwards, and you move on before it drags. No levels. No streaks. No percentage bars. You make progress because the next place is where you want to go. THE MOMENT THEY SWITCH TO ENGLISH A hundred and twenty-two of the sentences are the ones coming at you, not the ones you say. "¿Para acá o para llevar?" "¿Se lo caliento?" Most apps teach you to speak. Almost none teach you to understand the answer. Eighteen more are for the second you didn't catch a word. "¿Cómo?" "¿Me lo repetís?" The exact second someone switches to English, or doesn't. SPEAKING, HONESTLY RATED You say a sentence and get an answer instead of a score: understood, borderline or not yet, plus the two or three weakest words. A number tells you nothing about whether it would have worked. THREE KINDS OF SPANISH, EQUALLY Argentina and Uruguay, neutral Latin American, or Spain. Every word and every sentence on the route is spoken in all three variants, by three different voices. La palta or el aguacate. Vos podés or tú puedes. You choose, and you can change it anytime. WHAT ELSE IS INSIDE Around a thousand words and over a thousand sentences, chosen for everyday life rather than from a frequency list. Dictation at three speeds, for the sentences that arrive as one slurred block. Conjugation as full tables, because the pattern is what you're learning. Branching scenes where the conversation goes wrong and you fix it. ACCESS Right at the start, you say your first sentence and hear whether it lands, and the first three clips in the feed are free. Then you choose: the yearly plan with a free trial, a weekly plan, or Full Access with a single one-time payment, no subscription at all. Subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled anytime in your Apple subscriptions. No account needed, not even to buy. You will not learn to write Japanese here. You will learn to understand it when someone says it, and to say it yourself. That is a decision, not a gap. Learning to read and draw a foreign script costs months that bring you no closer to a conversation. Ether Echo removes that step and spends every available minute on the only two things that produce speech: your ear and your mouth. THE METHOD Every word you meet becomes a card, and every card comes back at the moment you were about to forget it. That is spaced repetition, computed by FSRS, the algorithm that models your forgetting curve instead of following a fixed schedule. You review less and retain more, because nothing comes back too early. But the cards are not word lists. Every word arrives inside a sentence you hear, spoken by a voice, in context. You do not memorise "dog = 犬". You hear a sentence about a dog, and you understand it. WHAT A SESSION LOOKS LIKE - Hear a sentence, choose what it means. - Hear it with no text at all, once the word is anchored enough to drop the crutch. - Read a sentence in your own language, find how it is said in the other. - Say it out loud, and speech recognition tells you whether you were understood. None of it asks you to draw a character. THE VOICE TUTOR Once you have enough words, you talk to a tutor that answers out loud, live, in the language you are learning. It stays inside what you already know: it will not use words you have never met. This is where vocabulary turns into speech. SCRIPTS THAT ARE NOT LATIN Japanese appears in rōmaji, Mandarin in pinyin with its tones, Russian in accented transliteration, because Russian stress is never written down and changes what a word means. You always read something you can pronounce. LANGUAGES English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Russian. The interface speaks all seven, and you pick the one things are explained in. PLACEMENT A short assessment finds where you already are. You do not start at "hello" if you are past it. SUBSCRIPTION The app, the courses, the spaced repetition and every exercise are included. The subscription pays for live conversation minutes with the voice tutor: 50, 150, 300 or 600 per month depending on the tier, billed monthly or yearly. Thirty trial minutes when you sign up, no card required. TERMS OF USE Auto-renewable subscription, monthly or yearly. It renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and it is managed from your App Store account settings.
