Actually Read helps you track your books, protect your reading time, and actually read—whether you’re reading an EPUB, a PDF, or a physical book. • Focus on the book you chose. Start a reading session, set a timer, and use Deep Focus to block the apps, categories, and websites you choose with Screen Time. • See your reading add up. Track books and focus sessions, create custom reading lists, review your reading history, and return to a calm, customizable reading space built around your current book. • Read your way. Import EPUBs and PDFs, discover free public-domain books, search within books, save bookmarks, highlight passages, and pick up where you left off. • Ask better questions with grounded AI. Actually Read uses retrieval-based AI to help you engage with a book, not replace it with an AI digest. Ask about a theme, scene, or passage, get a Story So Far recap, or request a chapter summary when you’re ready. • Stay grounded in the text. Actually Read retrieves relevant passages from your book and uses them as context for each answer. Responses prioritize cited supporting passages you can open directly in the reader and can respect your reading progress to help avoid spoilers. • Keep your content close. Book indexing, embeddings, and retrieval happen on-device. On devices with Apple Intelligence enabled, on-device AI can answer questions without sending your questions or book content to the cloud. • Choose Advanced AI when you want it. Only your question and the relevant excerpts retrieved to answer it are sent to the cloud—never the full book. Actually Read is for reading with more attention, more context, and fewer distractions. Some features require compatible hardware, Apple Intelligence, Screen Time permission, or an internet connection. Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

A shelf of pop-up books, one for each of the world's great cities. Open a book and the city rises out of the page: towers stand up, bridges reach across the river, palace roofs lift into the sky, folded the way real paper pop-ups fold. Lie it flat and the day turns to dusk, the windows light up one by one, a music box plays, and the city comes alive: Big Ben chimes, Tower Bridge lifts for a tall ship, mariachis strike up on the canals of Xochimilco, the L rumbles over the Chicago River, a cable car rings its bell on Hyde Street, the Golden Pavilion shines in its pond in Kyoto, lanterns glow in Seoul, the sun sets behind Barcelona. MADE FOR IPHONE DUO On iPhone Duo, the phone is the book. Closed, its outer screen shows the cover. Unfold the phone and the book opens with it: slowly, and every card stands up exactly as paper would; snap it open, and the whole city springs up. On any other iPhone, a hinge at the bottom of the screen opens the book. THIRTEEN CITIES ON THE SHELF • Barcelona: the Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló and Park Güell. Free. • Chicago: Buckingham Fountain and the skyline across the harbour, the bandshell in Millennium Park, the river and the L. • Kyoto: the wooden stage of Kiyomizu-dera, the torii tunnels of Fushimi Inari, the Golden Pavilion. • London: Westminster and Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace. • Los Angeles: City Hall under the mountains, the observatory in Griffith Park, the pier at Santa Monica at sunset. • Mexico City: the Zócalo and its cathedral, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, the canals of Xochimilco. • New York: the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park. • Paris: the Seine and the iron tower, Sacré-Cœur on Montmartre, Notre-Dame. • San Francisco: the Victorians on Alamo Square, the Golden Gate, a cable car on Hyde Street. • Seoul: Gwanghwamun, N Seoul Tower, the old roofs of Bukchon. • Sydney: the Harbour Bridge, Bondi Beach, The Rocks. • Tokyo: the Rainbow Bridge over the bay, the great lantern of Sensō-ji, the Shibuya scramble. • Washington, D.C.: the Tidal Basin in cherry blossom, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial. Every book is printed in the style of an old atlas: cream paper, gold-foil covers, map pages with compass roses, and a little paper plane that travels with you from city to city. TURN THE PAGES Drag a page to turn it, or tap its edge. Rock the book and the city answers: boats rock, lanterns sway, the plane swings wider. A LIVE WINDOW Classic is how the book has always looked. Switch an open book to Live and you see the city as it is right now: its own sun, rising and setting at the real hour, and its real weather, from rain on the Thames to snow in Seoul. THINGS TO FIND Every spread hides three small details: the ravens of the Tower of London, a black squirrel in a Washington elm, a night heron on the Chicago River. Tap one to find it and read its story, and collect its stamp in your passport. Some only appear at night, in the snow or at Christmas. CHRISTMAS AND AN ADVENT CALENDAR From 1 December to 6 January every city is decorated the way it really keeps the season, and snow falls on the pages (except in summery Sydney). An Advent calendar is on the shelf too, from 1 November: a pop-up winter town, with a door to open every day from 1 December until Christmas Eve. ONE CITY AT A TIME, OR EVERY CITY Barcelona is free. Each other city is a one-time purchase. Or get Every City: every book on the shelf, and every city we add, forever. MISSING YOUR CITY? The last book on the shelf is still blank. Tap it to open the city board: find your city, tell us the places you'd want in it, and vote for the next book. Votes guide which city we make next, and when one you voted for reaches the shelf, the shelf tells you. No ads. No account. No tracking.
