Block distracting apps. Put your real tasks back in view. Do Instead helps you step away from social scrolling and return to something you chose to do. Set allowed times for distracting apps and websites, then see a next task from Apple Reminders or Todoist when you reach for a blocked app. YOUR TASKS AT THE MOMENT YOU NEED THEM Connect Apple Reminders to bring your existing tasks into view. Today's commitments come first, followed by overdue work, with priority helping you choose. Connect Todoist with Pro. Keep your next task nearby with Home and Lock Screen widgets. SEPARATE SOCIAL BREAKS FROM WORK HOURS Give Social and Work their own apps, websites, and allowed times. Schedule a social break at lunch and keep work messages within working hours. Choose optional reminders five minutes before your allowed times start or end. Scheduled blocking requires Do Instead Pro and Screen Time permission. GIVE AN IMPULSE TIME TO PASS Turning off the guard or widening your allowed times takes ten minutes to apply. Tightening protection applies immediately. After repeated blocked opens, pause and write down what you came for before choosing your next step. CHOOSE SOMETHING TO DO INSTEAD Return to a task, take a minute for guided box breathing, or try a short desk workout with a 3D coach. You choose what to do with the pause. WHAT'S FREE AND WHAT'S PRO Free: Apple Reminders, Home and Lock Screen widgets, breathing, desk workouts, and the gentler Shortcuts route. The Shortcuts route requires setting up an automation to open Do Instead when you open a chosen app. Pro: scheduled blocking, allowed windows, the ten-minute cooldown, and Todoist integration. Subscription prices and available trials are shown in the app for your region before purchase. HOW BLOCKING WORKS Strict mode uses Apple's Screen Time features. Website coverage depends on your browser and iOS version. You can add website addresses or import a browser history export to choose domains; imported domains stay on your device. Manually added website restrictions can show Apple's restriction page instead of the task shield. On iOS 26.5 and later, open your task manager from the shield through Do Instead. Earlier versions offer a notification shortcut when notifications are enabled. Or choose Take a break to step away without starting a task. Completing a task does not unlock blocked apps; your allowed times determine access. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No Do Instead account, ads, analytics, or tracking. Task integrations connect to the services you choose. Transfer settings between devices with a QR code. Your intention notes stay on your phone. BUILT FROM A PERSONAL JOURNEY My weekly Social-category time went from 12h 36m to 6h 17m, then 2h 37m across three complete weeks. That personal experience inspired how I build Do Instead. It is not a promise of your results. โ Arkadiy, creator of Do Instead Make room for what you'd rather do. Talk for a minute. Get a tidy task list. That's the whole app. Offload is for the voice notes graveyard โ the "remind me to..." you muttered into your phone at 11pm and never listened back to. Open the app, talk for as long as it takes to get the thought out, and Offload transcribes it and sorts it into tasks, ideas, thoughts, feelings and decisions before you've put the phone down. No typing, no structure required going in โ just say it. WHY OFFLOAD โข Talk, don't organise โ ramble for a minute the way you actually think. Offload does the sorting after, not before โข Get a tidy task list out โ every dump comes back as a checklist you can tick off, not a wall of text you have to re-read โข Prefer typing? There's a text box on the same screen โ the mic is never required โข Add to your calendar, Reminders, or share to any app โ turn a task straight into a calendar event, send your list to Reminders, Notes, WhatsApp, wherever it needs to live next โข A free monthly allowance, no account โ open the app and start talking. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to โข Delete everything, any time โ one button in Settings wipes every recording, transcript and task off your phone for good WHAT'S INSIDE Record or type a dump. It gets transcribed, then sorted into tasks, ideas, thoughts, feelings and decisions โ five plain categories, not a folder tree you have to maintain. Tasks come with their own checkbox, plus a button to add them straight to your calendar or send the whole list somewhere else. Didn't like how something got sorted? Re-organise it, or edit it by hand. Stats show what's actually been on your mind lately, across every dump. PRIVACY Everything you record or type is stored on your phone โ in local storage, not on a server โ until you delete it yourself. To transcribe and sort a dump, the audio and transcript are sent transiently to Cloudflare Workers AI to do that one job. It doesn't store them afterwards and doesn't use them to train models. The only things that touch a server on an ongoing basis are an anonymous monthly counter that stops the free allowance being abused โ keyed to a random ID generated on your phone, not to you โ and anonymous usage counts (which features get used, never what you said) that help fix the rough edges. Same random ID, and you can switch them off in Settings. No accounts, no ads, no third-party trackers. Full policy: https://offload-bo8.pages.dev/privacy WHO IT'S FOR Anyone whose thoughts move faster than their thumbs โ walking, driving, lying awake at 3am, walking out of a meeting with four things to remember. If you've ever recorded a voice memo and never played it back, this is the app that does something with it before you've had the chance to forget. Open it, talk, get your head back.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Offload at none against Do Instead's 2. Offload also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
