Perfboard Lab
Read full descriptionHide full description
Understand electronics by trying it out: Perfboard Lab turns your iPhone, iPad or Mac with Apple silicon into an electronics lab. Build a circuit and switch on the power. Right away you see what happens: LEDs light up, buzzers beep, motors turn and hum. And if your maths was off: it smokes, it sparks and the part burns out β without any real damage. SEE WHAT HAPPENS, INSTANTLY β’ Every change is computed instantly with real physics β’ Overloaded parts smoke in four levels until they burn out β’ The analysis explains in plain words what is wrong: an LED the wrong way round, a missing series resistor, a short circuit, an open circuit MEASURE LIKE IN A REAL LAB β’ Multimeter: voltage, current and power at every part β’ Oscilloscope: voltage and current over time OVER 20 REAL PARTS β’ DC voltage source, AC source, current source and breadboard power supply β’ Resistors, potentiometers, ceramic and electrolytic capacitors, inductors, switches β’ Diodes and Zener diodes, NPN and PNP transistors, N- and P-channel MOSFETs, relays, op-amps, voltage regulators and Timer NE555 β’ LEDs in six colours, an incandescent lamp, a buzzer with a real tone and a motor whose hum matches its turning β’ Real characteristics as in a parts catalogue, each with a short explanation JUST LIKE ON THE WORKBENCH β’ Draw wires with the pen β straight wires with bends and branches β’ Perfboard, with Perfboard Lab Pro also stripboard with cuttable strips and breadboard as used with Arduino β’ Copy parts with all their values; text labels annotate your circuit β’ Real 2.54 mm grid: what fits in the app fits on the real board β’ Bill of materials with every part and the length of every wire β’ With Perfboard Lab Pro you see your circuit in the 3D view: real parts on the board that you turn, tilt and measure PERFECT FOR SCHOOL AND CLASS β’ A guided tutorial builds your first circuit with you β’ AI-assisted tasks and explanations in Perfboard Lab Pro: tasks that suit your level, explanations step by step on the board. β’ Lots of ready-made examples: from an LED with a series resistor to logic circuits, transistors and op-amps β’ The interactive formula collection adapts to your circuit: with the power on, every worked example calculates with the measured values of your parts and shows where each number comes from. β’ Teachers pass their default settings on to the whole class as a file FOR EVERYONE β’ For iPhone, iPad and Macs with Apple silicon β’ In many languages and usable with VoiceOver and Voice Control β’ No ads, no tracking FREE The perfboard with almost all parts and their examples, text labels, the instruments and the simulation are free. A circuit can have up to 7 parts. Your circuit is kept automatically. PERFBOARD LAB PRO With βPerfboard Lab Proβ you save as many circuits as you like and keep working on the same circuit on iPhone, iPad and Mac. You export them as PDF with a bill of materials and share them with others. Plus circuits with more than 7 parts, op-amp, voltage regulator, Timer NE555, motor, Zener diode and current source with their examples, the stripboard and the breadboard with their examples, AI-assisted tasks and explanations, and the 3D view. β’ Try it free for 3 days, then a weekly subscription. The App Store shows the price in your currency before you buy. β’ The subscription renews automatically every week unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Payment is charged to your Apple Account. You can cancel at any time in your Apple Account settings under βSubscriptionsβ. β’ Terms of use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ β’ Privacy policy: https://pascalschroeer.github.io/PerfboardLab_PrivacyPolicy/ Legal notice: https://pascalschroeer.github.io/PerfboardLab_PrivacyPolicy/#legal-notice
Experimenters Circuits
Read full descriptionHide full description
A circuit simulator for learning electricity and electronics. Pick components and instruments, place them in the workspace and connect their terminals with cables. The simulation runs while you build, so the meters and lamps respond to every new connection and every turn of a knob. WHO IT IS FOR Students studying electricity in school or at university, teachers demonstrating a circuit to a class, and anyone who wants to understand how a circuit works before building a real one. WHAT YOU CAN DO β’ Open a ready-made lab β Ohm's law, series and parallel circuits, capacitor charging, resonance, a rectifier, a transistor switch β and change it as you like. β’ Build circuits from power sources, resistors, capacitors, inductors, transformers, diodes, transistors, lamps, LEDs, switches and fuses. β’ Measure with an ammeter, voltmeter, wattmeter and oscilloscope. β’ Operate each instrument with its own controls: turn knobs, flip switches and press buttons. β’ Slow time down and watch what normally takes a fraction of a second. β’ Turn off the room light and see the lamps and LEDs glow. β’ Undo and redo your steps, copy part of a circuit and align everything to a grid. WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG The lab does not stop you from making a mistake. Short a power supply, and it switches itself off. Give a lamp too much voltage, and its filament flashes and burns out. An overloaded fuse blows. A source has internal resistance, a cable has a resistance of its own, and a meter slightly changes the circuit it measures. GOOD TO KNOW β’ Save your circuits and open them again later. β’ No account is needed to build, measure and save. β’ Remember: working with electricity in real life requires care.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Experimenters Circuits at none against Perfboard Lab's 1. Experimenters Circuits also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 9 days) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
