Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Cypress Mountain at 40% against VanGolf's 0%. Cypress Mountain also leads on ratings volume (33 vs 2). VanGolf's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
VanGolf holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cypress Mountain has 33 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of VanGolf's written reviews are positive against 40% of Cypress Mountain's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
VanGolf ships an update every 6 weeks, Cypress Mountain every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
