Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: ChallengeRunner at 4.5 against EWH's 2.5. ChallengeRunner also leads on ratings volume (8.7K vs 107). EWH's advantage is review sentiment (47% vs 16%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
ChallengeRunner holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ChallengeRunner has 8.7K ratings behind it against 107, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 16% of ChallengeRunner's written reviews are positive against 47% of EWH's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
ChallengeRunner ships an update every 2 weeks, EWH monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
