Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Sketchalyze at none against Maple Calculator's 3. Sketchalyze also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Maple Calculator's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 13 months) and ratings volume (1.5K vs 7). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Maple Calculator sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Sketchalyze asks for nothing beyond the download.
Sketchalyze holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Maple Calculator has 1.5K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Sketchalyze's written reviews are positive against 62% of Maple Calculator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Sketchalyze ships an update every 13 months, Maple Calculator every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
