Verdict

The call

GPS Speedometer and GPS Data both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 76% of GPS Data's written reviews are positive against 66% of GPS Speedometer's. GPS Speedometer's advantage is ratings volume (1.5K vs 458) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. GPS Speedometer sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and GPS Data sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

GPS Speedometer holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.5K and 458 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of GPS Speedometer's written reviews are positive against 76% of GPS Data's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

GPS Speedometer ships an update every 3 weeks, GPS Data fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
