Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: SimpList at none against Inkpad Notepad's shown. SimpList also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Inkpad Notepad's advantage is ratings volume (8.7K vs 9) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. SimpList sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Inkpad Notepad sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
SimpList holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Inkpad Notepad has 8.7K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of SimpList's written reviews are positive against 79% of Inkpad Notepad's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
SimpList ships an update monthly, Inkpad Notepad every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
