Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: MTG Trades at 4.6 against MTG Builder's 3.2. MTG Trades also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). MTG Builder's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

MTG Trades holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MTG Trades has 1.1K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of MTG Trades's written reviews are positive against 67% of MTG Builder's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
