Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: MTG Trades at 4.6 against heypster's 3.5. MTG Trades also leads on ratings volume (1.1K vs 2) and iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). heypster's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and review sentiment (81% vs 61%). On price, update cadence, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MTG Trades sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. heypster asks for nothing beyond the download.
MTG Trades holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MTG Trades has 1.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of MTG Trades's written reviews are positive against 81% of heypster's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 23, 2026.
