Verdict
miPic and Thrift2U both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 63% of miPic's written reviews are positive against 26% of Thrift2U's. miPic also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). Thrift2U's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (2.6K vs 288). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for miPic against 4.5 for Thrift2U. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Thrift2U has 2.6K ratings behind it against 288, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 63% of miPic's written reviews are positive against 26% of Thrift2U's.
miPic ships an update monthly, Thrift2U every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
