REAL-TIME RAINBOW LIKELIHOOD RainbowReporter reports the likelihood of seeing a rainbow based on the sun's position in the sky and your local weather. Rainbow sightings depend on unpredictable conditions changing minute to minute. Treat every estimate as a starting point for looking up, not a guarantee. REPORT A SIGHTING Spotted one? Report it and include an optional photo and note. People nearby can get notified right away so they can step outside and catch it too. Prefer to log it quietly without notifying anyone? You can do that too. BROWSE NEARBY AND PAST SIGHTINGS See what other people have reported near you, or look back through your own history of sightings. Like a report, or tap "I Also Saw This" to confirm you saw the same rainbow, letting reporters know their sighting helped someone else catch it. Check out the Map page for a visual representation of sightings. STAY IN THE LOOP Set your current location, home, work, and one more custom spot, each with its own adjustable radius, and get notified whenever a rainbow is reported nearby. PICK A USERNAME, KEEP YOUR PRIVACY Registered users choose a username shown on their reports. Don't want to sign up? Continue as a guest to check conditions and browse nearby sightings without creating an account. REPORT AND BLOCK See something that shouldn't be there? Report it to our moderators in a couple of taps, or block a user to stop seeing their sightings entirely. FREE, NO ADS RainbowReporter is free. No ads and no in-app purchases. PRIVACY Full details on what data we collect and how it's used are in our Privacy Policy.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: RainbowReporter at none against OpenSnow's 3. RainbowReporter also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 26.0). OpenSnow's advantage is ratings volume (9.1K vs 1) and chart position (#21 vs unranked). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OpenSnow sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $49.99 per year. RainbowReporter asks for nothing beyond the download.
RainbowReporter holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OpenSnow has 9.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
