Should I ride today? Which mountain? What do I wear? Nayge answers all three, and where a resort shares its cameras, lets you see the mountain for yourself. Built by a competitive snowboarder, Nayge helps you know what the mountain will actually ride like. Free. No ads, no subscription, no account. Most weather apps give you one reading per resort, usually at the base. Nayge forecasts the base, mid-mountain and summit separately, so it can tell you it is raining in the car park while it snows up top. ----------------- SHOULD I RIDE? ----------------- Every day gets a verdict, not just a temperature. Nayge reads the whole riding day and explains what will actually matter: wind that could put lifts on hold, an afternoon warm-up that turns snow to slush, an overnight refreeze that keeps the hill firm until the sun reaches it. --------------------- WHICH MOUNTAIN? --------------------- Every resort in season gets a score, and the map colors each pin by it. Save the mountains you ride and compare them side by side across the next 11 days. Nayge estimates the snow surface, not just the snowfall total: powder, soft pack, thin fresh, hard pack, firm, icy, corn or slush, tracked through each day's melting and refreezing. 20 cm that fell four days ago and baked in the sun is not the same as 20 cm that fell this morning. -------------------------- WHAT SHOULD I BRING? -------------------------- Recommendations built around the hours you plan to ride: • Layering from the feels-like temperature, wind and precipitation • Goggle lens for the expected light • Snow, rain or a mix, with a warning when it will rain at the base • Storm timing and how much could fall during your riding window --------- ALERTS --------- Create up to five alerts for the resorts and conditions you care about: snow in the next 3 days, during your riding hours or overnight from last chair to first chair, a day rating, light dry snow or clear skies. They can also warn you about wind holds, rain at the base or washouts. Alerts arrive the night before, the morning of, or both. When a storm is coming they say when the heaviest snow is due, and the morning alert tells you if the overnight forecast dropped well below what the night before said. Resorts out of season stay quiet until they open. The Notifications page shows the next alert due and the last one sent. Nothing is sent unless you set one up. ---------------- LIVE CAMERAS ---------------- Whakapapa, Mt Buller and Craigieburn cameras appear right on the resort card, with the resort's permission. Where a camera has history, scrub back through the last 24 hours and watch conditions change. ------------------- RESORT REPORTS ------------------- Official reports from Whakapapa, Mt Buller and Craigieburn appear under the resort's own name and in their own words, kept separate from Nayge's estimates. You always know what came from the mountain and what came from Nayge. -------------------- 3,000+ RESORTS -------------------- Base, mid and summit forecasts for more than 3,000 resorts worldwide, including Vail, Breckenridge, Park City, Jackson Hole, Big Sky, Aspen, Mammoth, Whistler Blackcomb, Killington, Whakapapa, Mt Buller and Craigieburn. Search by any name a resort goes by, in English or the local language, or by region or country. Filter by Epic, Ikon, Mountain Collective, Indy, Magic Pass, Powder Alliance or Freedom Pass, by resorts in season, or by the best conditions near you today. Resorts out of season are greyed out, and lift hours show where a resort posts them. No paid tier, nothing is locked. Your saved resorts, units and alerts stay on your phone. Every forecast is an estimate, and Nayge says so under each one. If a resort hasn't published a report or a reading is missing, Nayge shows a blank instead of guessing. Weather from Open-Meteo. Maps from Mapbox and OpenStreetMap. Resort data from OpenSkiMap. Season dates and lift hours from each resort's own website.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Nayge at none against OpenSnow's 3. Nayge also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and review sentiment (100% vs 80%). OpenSnow's advantage is ratings volume (9.1K vs 8) and chart position (#24 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OpenSnow sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $49.99 per year. Nayge asks for nothing beyond the download.
Nayge holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OpenSnow has 9.1K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 80% of OpenSnow's written reviews are positive against 100% of Nayge's.
OpenSnow ships an update every 11 days, Nayge weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
