Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Lightmate at none against Luminosys's shown. Lightmate also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 19 months) and ratings volume (79 vs 7). Luminosys's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.1). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Luminosys holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lightmate has 79 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Lightmate's written reviews are positive against 75% of Luminosys's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Lightmate ships an update every 5 weeks, Luminosys every 19 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 20, 2026 respectively.
