Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Birth Plan Plus at none against Count the Kicks!'s shown. Birth Plan Plus also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (67% vs 48%). Count the Kicks!'s advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 28 months) and ratings volume (8.6K vs 40). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Count the Kicks! holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Count the Kicks! has 8.6K ratings behind it against 40, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of Count the Kicks!'s written reviews are positive against 67% of Birth Plan Plus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Count the Kicks! ships an update every 3 weeks, Birth Plan Plus every 28 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
