The clearest difference is monetization model: Canada Press at free with in-app purchases against Toronto Sun ePaper's subscription. Canada Press also leads on review sentiment (59% vs 28%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.6). Toronto Sun ePaper's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Canada Press sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Toronto Sun ePaper sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $11.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Toronto Sun ePaper holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 55 and 21 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of Canada Press's written reviews are positive against 28% of Toronto Sun ePaper's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Canada Press ships an update every 12 months, Toronto Sun ePaper every 23 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
