Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Sync Slate at 4.0 against DSLR Clapperboard's 3.4. Sync Slate also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). DSLR Clapperboard's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (24 vs 4). On price, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DSLR Clapperboard sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Sync Slate asks for nothing beyond the download.
Sync Slate holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DSLR Clapperboard has 24 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Sync Slate's written reviews are positive against 59% of DSLR Clapperboard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Sync Slate ships an update every 7 months, DSLR Clapperboard every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
