Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
TC
This app acts as a versatile controller for music software and hardware, allowing users to create custom interfaces for sending MIDI and OSC messages. It translates touch gestures and device motion into musical commands without being a synthesizer itself.
- Customizable multi-touch controllers
- Device motion control (gyroscope/accelerometer)
- MIDI over Bluetooth (Mac)
- OSC over Wi-Fi (Mac)
- Inter-app control via CoreMIDI
- Support for external MIDI interfaces
- Virtual MIDI output

TC-Data is a MIDI and OSC (Open Sound Control) controller that sends messages to other apps and hardware. The app has over 300 multi-touch and device motion controllers and triggers which can be assigned to any MIDI or OSC message output. TC-Data is not a synthesizer, but it is designed to control them, plus any other MIDI or OSC software. With TC-Data, you create your own interface to send the gestures and touch motions you choose. There are no sliders, knobs, or buttons. TC-Data directly connects your touch movements to the outputs you program. Create MIDI notes, CC, pitch bend, patch change, and aftertouch messages with totally unique multi-touch controllers. Or send values directly to your program of choice via OSC, where you can build your own project using TC-Data as the front-end. Features • MIDI over Bluetooth (Mac) • Inter-app control via CoreMIDI • OSC over Wi-Fi (Mac) • Support for external MIDI interfaces • MIDI input passthrough • Virtual MIDI output • Fully assignable touch controllers • Gyroscope and accelerometer motion control • 300+ controllers and triggers • 14-bit MIDI CC support TC-Data is based on TC-11, an all-in-one multi-touch synthesizer. TC-Data takes the multi-touch controllers from TC-11 and opens them up to any external software.
Augmatic GRE
Generate complex and evolving drum patterns using algorithmic and Euclidean engines. This app creates MIDI notes that require a separate sound source to produce audio, offering deep control over rhythm and dynamics.
- Algorithmic and Euclidean rhythm generation
- Morphable Grids Engine for evolving beats
- Blend control between pattern types
- Linear drumming for articulate patterns
- Velocity bender for expressive dynamics
- Groove tools for swing and timing

MAIN FEATURES: - 6 Algorithmic Channels - Bass drum, snare, hi-hat, plus accents which create complementary rhythms, not duplicates. Each channel can generate its own rhythmic voice for rich, layered drum patterns. - Topographic Engine - Morphable, evolving beats based on the Mutable Instruments Eurorack module. Navigate an X/Y map of interconnected drum patterns extracted from actual drum loops with smooth interpolation between patterns. - Euclidean Engine - generate evenly distributed, world‑inspired rhythm patterns using Euclidean algorithms. Configure steps, hits, and start position independently on each channel for precise control. - Blend Control - Crossfade between Grids and Euclidean patterns to introduce variation while preserving the core character of your groove. - Linear Drumming - Control which drums play together or play alone. Eeach sound has room to breathe. Creates clean, articulate patterns. Used in Hip-Hop, IDM, Funk, Fusion. - Velocity Bender - Shape velocity dynamics for a more expressive, dynamic pulse. Create ghost notes, and rhythmic emphasis that bring patterns to life. - Groove Tools - Swing, humanization, clock division, and timing shift. Fine-tune the feel of your patterns from tight and mechanical to loose and human. IMPORTANT: This app does not produce sound on its own. It generates MIDI notes and requires a drum sampler or synthesizer to play them.

TC costs $19.99 and Augmatic GRE $9.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Augmatic GRE holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 14 and 7 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 89% of TC's written reviews are positive against 83% of Augmatic GRE's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
TC ships an update every 5 weeks, Augmatic GRE every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
