Verdict
Heartpedia and Medtimer both sit at 4.3 stars, but that hides the real split: 78% of Heartpedia's written reviews are positive against 40% of Medtimer's. Heartpedia also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). Medtimer's advantage is ratings volume (587 vs 34) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 8 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Medtimer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Heartpedia asks for nothing beyond the download.
Medtimer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Medtimer has 587 ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of Heartpedia's written reviews are positive against 40% of Medtimer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Heartpedia ships an update every 8 months, Medtimer every 3 months. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
