Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: VaxPhone at 5.0 against Grandstream Wave's 2.6. Grandstream Wave's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 8 months) and ratings volume (51 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

VaxPhone holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Grandstream Wave has 51 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of VaxPhone's written reviews are positive against 10% of Grandstream Wave's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

VaxPhone ships an update every 8 months, Grandstream Wave every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
