Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Phocus Mobile at 4.6 against Codecam's 4.0. Phocus Mobile also leads on ratings volume (522 vs 24). Codecam's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.2). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Phocus Mobile holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Phocus Mobile has 522 ratings behind it against 24, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Codecam's written reviews are positive against 46% of Phocus Mobile's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Codecam ships an update monthly, Phocus Mobile every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
