PullCalc vs Ugly's Electrical References
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
PullCalc
This app assists electricians and contractors in estimating the pull force required for installing electrical cables in conduit. Users input details for each leg of the conduit run, including wire size, conduit ID, and bend angles, to generate an approximate pull force calculation.
- Estimate pull force for cable installation
- Input data by conduit legs
- Supports various input parameters (wire size, conduit ID, bends)
- Includes coefficient of friction guidance
- Provides suggested friction coefficients for lubricated cable

Greenlee continues to drive efficiency with PullCalc, an app that helps electricians and contractors approximate the pull force needed to install an electrical cable inside of conduit. Data is entered by "legs" and each leg is considered to be a straight run of conduit followed by a bend, except the last leg, which usually has no bend. The calculation for each leg requires the following information to be entered: - Wire size - Number of wires - Conduit I.D. - Duct Material - Material of the Cable Insulation - Coefficent of Friction* - Length of Leg - Bend angle - Vertical Rise *Due to unknown factors involved, it prohibits giving exact results, most notably the coefficient of friction. Lubrication, surface texture, and lay of the cable are never uniform along the length of a conduit run. Comparing the known forces of pulls against the estimated force should give you a guide as for a good coefficient of friction to use for similar future pulls, and a table with some suggested starting points for the coefficient of friction of well-lubricated cable is a drop down option in the app. If lubricant is not used, triple the values in the table.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: PullCalc at Free against Ugly's Electrical References's $12.99. PullCalc also leads on review sentiment (83% vs 47%). Ugly's Electrical References's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (1.5K vs 3). On update cadence, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
PullCalc is free to download; Ugly's Electrical References costs $12.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Ugly's Electrical References holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ugly's Electrical References has 1.5K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of PullCalc's written reviews are positive against 47% of Ugly's Electrical References's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
PullCalc ships an update every 2 months, Ugly's Electrical References every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
