Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: EyeOnWater at 4.7 against GaugeWatcher's 3.8. EyeOnWater also leads on ratings volume (45K vs 9) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 26.0). GaugeWatcher's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks) and review sentiment (67% vs 56%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

EyeOnWater holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EyeOnWater has 45K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of EyeOnWater's written reviews are positive against 67% of GaugeWatcher's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

EyeOnWater ships an update every 3 weeks, GaugeWatcher weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
