Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: RICOH THETA at 4.6 against Room Capture's 1.8. RICOH THETA also leads on ratings volume (1.9K vs 5) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). Room Capture's advantage is review sentiment (40% vs 23%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

RICOH THETA holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 1.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RICOH THETA has 1.9K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of Room Capture's written reviews are positive against 23% of RICOH THETA's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Room Capture ships an update every 4 months, RICOH THETA every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
