My Typewriter combines the look and feel of working on a vintage typewriter with the convenience of a modern day word processor. With My Typewriter you have a typewriter to-go right in the palm of your hand. From the Underwood-inspired keystrokes and bell to the randomized ink patterns, this app was designed with the authentic experience of the classic writing machine in mind. Anything you create on My Typewriter can be saved, printed, exported, and uploaded to any platform you would like. Furthermore, the page size of My Typewriter has been optimized for social media posting to give your work the highest aesthetic quality on what’s becoming the chosen platform for the modern day poet. Some advantages My Typewriter has over other typewriter apps are the ability to delete mistakes, a longer page to be better-suited for long-form works, a font randomizer, a selection of vintage fonts to choose from, and the ability to move the cursor around manually in order to play with poetic form or to function like a traditional word-processor. We hope the next wave of Kerouacs, Plaths, and Hemingways use My Typewriter to create their masterworks just as we hope anyone with the inkling to write finds true joy from this virtual typewriter. Writers write, so get to it! Developed by Winnona Partners, LLC https://winnonapartners.com

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: ContactFlow at 4.5 against My Typewriter's 4.0. ContactFlow also leads on price ($0.99 vs $1.99). My Typewriter's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 18 months) and ratings volume (133 vs 2). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

ContactFlow holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: My Typewriter has 133 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of ContactFlow's written reviews are positive against 60% of My Typewriter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

ContactFlow ships an update every 18 months, My Typewriter every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
