Leaf keeps an honest record of what you drink, in UK units, so you can see how a week actually went rather than how it felt on Sunday morning. Logging takes a couple of taps. Pick from a starter list of everyday drinks, from pints and large glasses of wine to G&Ts, cans, hard seltzers and alcohol-free beer, or add your own with its size, strength, price and calories. Leaf works out the units. If you're out and only remember the next day, you can add drinks to any earlier day. SET A DAILY BUDGET Choose how many units a day feels right for you, and Leaf shows how each day compares. Setup puts the budget in familiar terms, so three units means something you can picture rather than an abstract number. The calendar colours each day by whether you stayed under, so a heavy run of weekends is easy to spot. SEE THE PATTERN Reports show your weekly trend over four or twelve weeks, which drinks make up most of your units, which days of the week tend to be heaviest, and an estimate of what you spent and the calories you drank. Month, year and all-time views give you the longer picture, and Leaf is upfront about days you didn't log instead of quietly treating them as zero. STOPPED DRINKING? Switch Leaf to sober tracking and it counts the time since your last drink, with an estimate of the money you've saved and the units you've avoided. You can move between drinking and sober tracking whenever your plans change. FROM YOUR HOME SCREEN The widget shows today's total and logs your most recent drink without opening the app. In sober tracking it counts the days since you stopped. GENTLE NUDGES Optional reminders prompt you to log your day, alongside monthly challenges and support messages. Turn each one on or off in Settings. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS There's no account to create. Your diary is stored on your iPhone, and you can export it as CSV files whenever you like. ALREADY USE LEAF? This update keeps every drink, day and setting you've already recorded. UNITS THE NHS WAY The NHS advises not regularly drinking more than 14 units a week, spread over three or more days, with several drink-free days if you want to cut down. Leaf counts UK units the same way the NHS does, so your weekly total in Reports compares directly with that guideline. Leaf is not a medical service. If you're worried about your drinking, your GP is a good place to start, or you can call Drinkline free and in confidence on 0300 123 1110 (weekdays 9am to 8pm, weekends 11am to 4pm). The NHS website also lists local alcohol support services near you.
