Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Video Game at 4.0 against Cuarenta's 3.2. Video Game also leads on ratings volume (399 vs 6) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 4 months). Cuarenta's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 14.0). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Cuarenta sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Video Game sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Video Game holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Video Game has 399 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Cuarenta's written reviews are positive against 47% of Video Game's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Cuarenta ships an update every 4 months, Video Game every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
