Asked for a photo of your ID? Cover what they don't need on your iPhone, then send a copy made for one recipient. A host wants your passport. A landlord wants your license. You'd rather say no, but you need the booking or the apartment. CoverTrace is the middle path. COVER WHAT THEY DON'T NEED - Detection suggests what to cover: ID numbers, SSN, address, birth date, portrait, the passport code, and the barcode on the back of a license, which repeats front-side details like your name and address. It can miss text under glare, so check the preview. - Tap a suggestion or cover them all, on one page or every page. Names and signatures aren't detected, so draw those boxes yourself. - Use a solid cover for text and numbers. Blur and pixelate only soften what's underneath. - Paper too: scan a pay stub, statement, lease, or bill, or import a PDF (the first 20 pages), and cover account and card numbers. - New to it? Try it first on a fictional sample license. A FLAT COPY FOR ONE RECIPIENT - Every covered copy is re-rendered as a new, flattened image or PDF. Under a solid cover, the original pixels aren't in the file, so there's nothing to peel back. Photo metadata such as location doesn't carry over. - Before you send, CoverTrace lists what it can still read on the finished copy, to help you spot a box that slipped or a page you forgot. It can miss things. - A visible watermark says what the copy is for. - Document copies carry an invisible trace mark unless you turn it off (some templates start with it off). If one turns up where it shouldn't, your log can show which copy it was (decoding is part of Pro). A match indicates which copy, not how it got there. - Going by email? Export a password-protected PDF with Pro and send the password another way. - A private log on your iPhone records who received each document copy, and when. TEMPLATES FOR COMMON REQUESTS Templates suggest what to cover and what to keep visible for rentals, tenant screening, host and hotel check-ins, utilities, car rentals, marketplace deals, proof of income or address, and more. Most add a dated watermark. Some recipients need the complete document, like an employer completing Form I-9 or a payment platform, crypto exchange, or developer program verifying you through its own upload. Those templates cover nothing, and platform ones add no watermark; use the platform's own flow. What's accepted is always up to the recipient. CLEAN SCREENSHOTS, FREE AND UNLIMITED Share a screenshot into CoverTrace to cover card and account numbers, emails, phone numbers, and addresses, then export a clean copy. PROCESSED ON YOUR IPHONE - CoverTrace never uploads your documents, photos, scans, or share log. A copy leaves your phone only when you send it. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no servers of our own. - Apple processes payments. RevenueCat, our billing service, receives the purchase receipt and a random app ID. At launch, the app sends it that ID, a device ID, and basic app details to check whether Pro is active. - Pro's encrypted vault opens with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode. If Pro ends, you can still view, export, and delete what's in it. FIND FORGOTTEN ID PHOTOS The free photo scan checks photos stored on this iPhone for pictures of IDs and payment cards. It runs on your device, won't find every one, and skips iCloud-only photos. FREE AND PRO Free: covering, templates, importing photos and PDFs, unlimited screenshot cleaning, the photo scan, the share log, and your first single-page document export. Pro adds unlimited document exports, multi-page and password-protected PDFs, the vault with expiry reminders, and trace-mark decoding. Pay once with Lifetime (no subscription), or choose Annual, which renews until you cancel. Eligible new subscribers may get a free trial of Annual where offered. Send only what they need.
