Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: bits at 4.7 against ba's 3.9. bits also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (587 vs 14). ba's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ba sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and bits sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
bits holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: bits has 587 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of ba's written reviews are positive against 78% of bits's.
ba ships an update every 4 months, bits fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
