Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Mavis Camera at 746 against OpenCam's 50. On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Mavis Camera sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per 7 days and OpenCam sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Mavis Camera against 4.4 for OpenCam. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mavis Camera has 746 ratings behind it against 50, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 59% of Mavis Camera's written reviews are positive against 55% of OpenCam's.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
