Great app, a few concerns about shotbox and image quality
App's been serving me pretty well, but something that slows me down a bit is the shotbox. When loading a preset saved in the shotbox, the settings aren't loaded correctly. I saved a preset that had a 1/48 shutter and an ISO of 34, but upon loading it is always set differently. Would be very glad to see this issue patched in a future update!
I also want to ask if it's possible to add a feature that switches between iOS's global tone mapping on/off. I've used it before in an old camera app (that I can't remember...) and I think it would be a great addition for shooting in certain scenarios and gives more consistent looking visuals. Thanks for the great app, love it!

I must say, this app is very well-thought out and packed to the gills with features — absolutely phenomenal. A true gift to indie filmmakers. And it’s FREE. 😮 As a creator, I cannot thank you enough.
I do, however, have a feature request: I was wondering if you can add a feature in which gyroscopic data is added? It would be great for a post-production app like Gyroflow would be able to read the gyroscopic data, and use that to help correct rolling shutter.
If you are able to do that … I would be in heaven. And I will gladly buy you coffee. Thank you!

Loving the new version7
I used to use the old Mavis Camera and I’m really glad it’s back. This new version7 is solid and keeps getting better with every update. Love all the new features they keep adding 👏

Switched to mavis from black magic, much better ui and feels more intuitive to use, i use this for all my content now!
It’s awesome
As a musician who wants to produce content, Mavis Camera is seriously underrated. I love that I can use this app to take full advantage of the iPhones powerful camera and record 8 channels of lossless audio using my interface to completely capture my performance. Opening the multitrack files in Davinci for iPad is seamless. Even better, I can load the video file in Logic for Mac and it’s ready to go for a full professional mix down. Mavis Camera is a secret weapon for sure.

£10 for LUT support!!!
After finally bringing LUT support it’s now locked behind a £10 paywall which is crazy.
If like me you use this with the ninja phone then LUTs are a basic feature.
Do your self a favour if your not planning on using this with an Atomos product and just want to record on your phone then head on over and download the blackmagic camera app. It’s free and gives you the features this app will charge you extra for.

Response to the developer: there is no problem charging for extra features. But LUT support on a product that is advertised as an external recorded is not optional is a necessity. Unless you plan to bake the LUT in to the footage which most people wouldn’t want to do.
If like me you use this with the ninja phone then LUTs are a basic feature.

The King is Back
V7 is truly impressive. Great to have Mavis back. Significant updates since launch including ShotBox and external SSD support make this a great alternative to Blackmagic Camera.
Hard Pass
I had to download this because Atomos Ninja did away with their Atomos Ninja phone app and went to this.
I’m not too sure why I have my speculation because they couldn’t get their app to work with the mic jack. But I have no idea anyway…..
So I downloaded this app just to see if it actually worked and it did and then I noticed that it has a pretty good just in camera video as opposed to using Apple‘s default video
However, there seems to be an issue.
1. Horizontal video, I started the video with the back camera and then I switched to the front camera and when I did that I was upside down on the screen and in the playback also audio was not synced with video.
2. Horizontal video I started the video with the front camera so it could see me then I switched it to the back camera then I switched it back to the front camera. When I started the video with the front camera so it could see me talking audio was good when I switched to the back camera the video feed looked good. Everything was right side up and then when I switched it back to the front camera, everything was still right side up, so that was good. However, upon playback video was synced with the front camera when started when I switched to the back camera, although everything was right side up when I was doing the video upon playback, everything was upside down when I switched back to the front camera to end of all audio was not synced anymore.
3. Vertical video no matter what camera you start with upon playback. A video is right side up unlike horizontal video playing back however, the audio sync is still an issue if you switch camera reviews and you come back you’ll notice your audio is no longer in sync with your mouth.
I don’t know if this is normally how it’s supposed to be. Maybe you’re not supposed to switch the Camera views but I thought it was pretty cool because you can’t do that on my iPhone, but I’m more than likely be deleting the app because I don’t use the ninja phone. And there’s no sense I have in this takeoff space on my phone if I’m not gonna use it for normal videos

Great so far!!!!
I’m loving the app so far I really like how customisable everything is.
LUT support is a must especially considering it’s a recorder and not just a monitor.
I don’t know if it’s possible but some settings to dial in the display. Contrast, brightness, colour.
Last thing is it would be good to get a storage capacity that can be toggled on and off.
But great job I think the functionality this far and how well everything is designed and laid out makes this app great

The best app
I really love it.
Shady - asking me to pay for something I already paid for
I previously reviewed this because of audio issues, and the developer replied by telling me I could use Mavis Camera Classic. Well, before they updated my “classic” version to this, I did pay for the original app (which was the equivalent of classic). So now, I looked up Mavis Camera Classic in the App Store, and it says I have to pay for it again. I figured since I’ve already paid for it, I should be able to just download it. Some shady business practices.

I’m not a professional, but I wanted something more than just the built in camera for iPhone. It worked great until the last update. Now the videos recorded with Mavis cannot be heard when played on a typical PC Media Player. I either have to download special media players or convert my audio to AAC. I tried to see if there is a setting within the app that I can change where I can record without having to convert later but couldn’t find anything. Too bad, I really liked this app before.

You can also record individual audio tracks using PCM (Pro Pack required). If you're still having problems please reach out to support. 1 small thing
Loved the app before and still love the new version, but I don’t like the removal of the full frame mode that let me record using the full sensor. Other than that great app.
Long Time User
This app has always been one that I come back to, because to me, it just has a great “film look” without having to do much to achieve it. Be aware of your lighting and you are off to making movies.
