Spark Break

Most people don't lose hours to the feed because they're weak. They lose them because nothing has ever stood between the thought and the thumb. Spark Break puts one rep there. Ten squats, five slow exhales, or one honest sentence about what you're actually avoiding. Do it and the screen opens. Do it six times a day and you're not just scrolling less — you're stronger, calmer, and harder to distract. That's the whole system. THREE ACTIONS, UNDER SIXTY SECONDS EACH Move — ten squats, a few times an hour. Not a workout. Just meaningfully less sitting than the scroll would have cost you, confirmed by motion and step data. Breathe — five slow exhales, right at the moment you're most wound up, before the anxious spiral finishes its sentence. Not meditation. Just enough of a pause that the feeling passes instead of feeding itself. Focus — one sentence, typed or spoken, about the thing you're avoiding. Say it often enough and it stops being avoidable. That's repetition doing the job willpower usually fails at. A TAPER, NOT A CLIFF Week one measures. No limit at all — Spark Break learns your real baseline from your real days while you live normally. Every week after, your daily target steps down ten percent. Never below the number you chose yourself: ninety, sixty, or forty-five minutes. If a week goes badly, the plan holds instead of pushing. Roughly every fifty minutes on a protected app, the screen locks until one action is done. A few skips a day are built in, for when you genuinely can't stop. NO RED ZEROS Break a streak and Spark Break says "Day 1 again. Your best was 14." That's the entire response. No failure screens, no red numbers, no notification chasing you down about what you lost. Shame is what sends people back to the feed. This app is built to not do that. WHAT HAPPENS ON YOUR IPHONE STAYS ON YOUR IPHONE Apple seals Screen Time data inside the app on your device. The apps you protect are stored as opaque tokens even we cannot read. Per-app usage is rendered by Apple's own view and never transmitted. Anything you type stays local. Motion readings confirm an action, then are discarded. No account is required to use Spark Break. There is no sign-up, no email address, and nothing to look you up by. WHAT SPARK BREAK WON'T DO Calls, Messages, Maps, banking and health apps can never be shielded. Ever. And Spark Break can't protect itself from you — the app picker blocks that on purpose. Spark Break needs Screen Time permission to know when you're deep in a session. Motion and Fitness permission is optional; decline it and movement actions are swapped for breathing ones. Take the time back.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Principle Mirror at none against Spark Break's 3. Principle Mirror also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.0). Spark Break's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
