Read full descriptionHide full description
The goal of the game is to select the correct ratios of cations (+) and anions (-) that combine to form solid precipitates at 0.1M ion concentrations, neutral pH, and 25 degrees C. Experiment with the interface by clicking the ion symbols multiple times. When the name and formula looks good to you, submit your solid by clicking the button at the bottom of the screen. Swipe spectator ions away from the screen to remove them and to earn extra game points. Good luck! We sincerely hope this game helps you learn how to predict the product of common precipitation reactions. This app was created and developed at Tennessee Tech University by instructor Janet Coonce, student Evgeny Vasilyev, and student Rodney Mitchell, in collaboration with TTU's iCube.

Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Serious Solids at 100% against Transact eAccounts's 40%. Serious Solids also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). Transact eAccounts's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 2.7) and update cadence (monthly vs every 48 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Transact eAccounts holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Transact eAccounts has 49K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Serious Solids's written reviews are positive against 40% of Transact eAccounts's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Serious Solids ships an update every 48 months, Transact eAccounts monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
