Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Chord Tracker at none against Extrack's 2. Chord Tracker also leads on review sentiment (49% vs 37%) and ratings volume (170 vs 24). Extrack's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 5 months). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Extrack holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.6. Written reviews complicate that: 49% of Chord Tracker's written reviews are positive against 37% of Extrack's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Chord Tracker ships an update every 5 months, Extrack every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on June 10, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
