Practice reading EKGs in lead II Basic EKG interpretation is more accurately described as an intermediate level skill that takes time, practice and refreshing. Whether you are a doctor, nurse, EMT or tech your ability to read and pickup on basic EKG changes in real time is essential. Practice with an app that actually looks like what you see at work. Use the app’s ‘Study Mode’ to choose one or multiple rhythms to view and compare. A brief description of each rhythm is provided, you can also pause and restart rhythms. Delete and add specific rhythms as desired. Rates, amplitudes and widths of the rhythms are dynamically set which provides for a more realistic simulation and variation within each type of rhythm. Use the app’s ‘Game Mode’ to challenge yourself to identify rhythms presented randomly in lead II. If desired, you can also custom specify which rhythms to include in the game. Access to Study Mode and Game Mode requires a subscription via in-app purchase. Please Read: The purpose of this app is not to teach basic EKG interpretation but rather to practice basic EKG interpretation. If you don’t know basic EKG interpretation seek out additional resources such as classes, books, online materials and mentors to learn more and further your understanding. Note: The cardiac rhythms presented by the app are simulated approximations. There is NO guarantee to the accuracy of rhythms presented. While accuracy is not guaranteed it is a goal. Respi-Rate helps healthcare professionals determine a patient's respiratory rate using manually recorded breath intervals. Press the Lungs button each time the patient begins to inhale. Respi-Rate estimates respiratory rate from the intervals between these button presses. The application does not automatically detect breathing and does not use device sensors to identify individual breaths. RESPI-RATE PRO Respi-Rate Pro adds tools for respiratory assessment and documentation: - Measurement history – review previous respiratory-rate determinations. - Breathing Regularity – assess the consistency of manually recorded breath intervals. - I:E Assessment – display the ratio of manually recorded inhalation and exhalation durations. This feature is experimental. - Age-based reference ranges – compare the respiratory-rate result with age-specific reference values. - Dark Mode – use an appearance optimized for low-light environments. All Pro features can be tried free for 7 days. No subscription. No automatic charge. The free trial ends automatically after 7 days, with nothing to cancel. Basic respiratory rate determination remains available free of charge. Pro can be unlocked permanently with a separate, one-time Lifetime Pro purchase. METHODOLOGY Respiratory rate is determined from breaths recorded manually by the user. For example, if the Lungs button is pressed at 00:00 and again at 00:05, with both presses made when the patient begins to inhale, the recorded interval is 5 seconds. This corresponds to an estimated respiratory rate of 12 breaths per minute (60 ÷ 5 = 12). After each press, the application evaluates whether enough respiratory intervals have been collected. If the required accuracy has not been reached, additional intervals are collected. With a regular breathing pattern, the algorithm continues collecting intervals until the estimated respiratory rate reaches an accuracy of 95% ± 1 breath per minute. Because breaths are recorded manually, results depend on consistent button timing. Press the button at the same phase of each respiratory cycle, preferably at the beginning of inhalation. Do not use Respi-Rate to determine respiratory rate when the patient's breathing is irregular. Respi-Rate Pro includes a breathing regularity assessment. When this feature is used, interpret the respiratory rate only when the regularity assessment reaches 3 stars. If fewer than 3 stars are achieved, repeat the measurement. The regularity assessment reflects the consistency of manually recorded breath intervals. It may be affected by irregular breathing or inconsistent button timing and does not represent the accuracy of the respiratory-rate determination. The experimental I:E Assessment depends on the accuracy of the user's button presses and does not establish a diagnosis. IMPORTANT Respi-Rate supports respiratory rate determination and does not replace clinical judgment. Always confirm unexpected results by direct observation. Interpret all results in the context of the patient's overall clinical condition and follow applicable clinical guidelines. Fast. Simple. Focused on respiratory rate.
