Best productivity and AI apps for iPhone Duo

Icons of Things 3, Streaks, Claude, Perplexity and Muse with the title Productivity & AI on iPhone Duo

Six apps with iPhone Duo screenshots stand out for work and AI: Things 3, Streaks, Claude, Perplexity, Muse from Meta and Grok Bot. Only some have a layout rebuilt for the foldable. Things 3 is the clear winner for tasks, Perplexity and Claude are the best free picks for AI, and Grok Bot is the one to skip unless you have a business use for it. Figures date from October 25, 2026. The series starts with our best iPhone Duo apps hub.

What we checked

For each app we confirmed the price and rating on its App Store listing, that its listing includes iPhone Duo screenshots, and what its release notes say. Screenshots are our signal because Apple publishes no badge, and they prove only that the developer prepared something for the Duo's display. A real layout change gets named when the developer's own notes describe it. Everything else is "ships Duo screenshots".

Things 3: the to-do app that rebuilt its layout

Things 3 by Cultured Code is the task manager to get, and the only app here whose notes spell out the Duo work. Version 3.25.1, released October 22, says Things now adapts to each way the Duo can sit: shut, open, half-folded like a book, or sharing the screen in Split View. Unfold the phone and a sidebar shows all your lists. Controls move into a bar down the right side, within reach of your thumb, and that bar holds the Magic Plus button you can drag into a list to add a to-do exactly where you want it. Connect a keyboard and the full set of Things keyboard shortcuts works.

It costs $9.99 with no subscription, and its 4.8 average rests on about 28,000 ratings. The recurring complaint is what it costs to own it on several devices. If you already own Things on iPhone, check that the update has reached you before paying for anything else.

Things 3
Cultured Code GmbH & Co. KG · Productivity

This app helps you organize your life by planning your day, managing projects, and tracking progress toward your goals. It offers a clean interface to manage tasks, projects, and life areas, making it easy to focus on what matters.

Streaks: Duo screenshots, few details

Streaks ($5.99, 4.8 from about 27,000 ratings) is a habit tracker built around streaks of consecutive days, with Apple Watch and Health integration. Its listing includes Duo screenshots. The latest release notes, for version 11.5, mention a refreshed button design, a Halloween theme and "support for the latest devices", without naming the Duo, so we can't say what changed on the larger screen. For a habit app, the open screen should mean seeing more of your streak grid at once, but that is our expectation and not the developer's claim.

Reviews praise how simple and motivating it is. The common complaints are occasional sync problems and clumsy task editing. It has no in-app purchases.

This app helps you build positive habits and break negative ones by tracking your daily progress. Achieve consecutive day streaks for up to 24 tasks, with iCloud syncing, reminders, and health app integration.

Claude: long conversations suit the wider screen

Claude by Anthropic is free to download and includes Duo screenshots. Its latest notes list bug fixes only, so there is nothing to cite beyond the screenshots. We still think it benefits from the larger display, because long replies, code and documents are tiring to read on a narrow phone screen.

The App Store reviews our system analyzed praise the quality of the answers and the Projects feature, and complain about usage limits on the free plan and some bugs. Paid plans are sold separately, so decide how much you will use it before subscribing. The embed below shows the review summary.

Perplexity: the one that says it supports Duo

Perplexity is a free AI search app that cites sources for each answer. Its release notes from October 23 say, in full: "Perplexity now supports Duo." That is a direct statement from the developer, though it does not describe the layout. It has a 4.8 rating from more than 500,000 ratings, and a Pro subscription is available in the app.

Perplexity is the better choice when you want sourced answers to a factual question, and Claude is the better choice for writing and longer back-and-forth. Reviewers like the speed and the citations. Common complaints are the price of the paid plan and a mobile app that feels weaker than the web version. Because the answer and its sources compete for space, an open Duo screen is where it should help most.

Muse and Grok Bot: AI agents with a catch

Both of these apps act on your behalf instead of only answering questions, which makes them a different kind of tool.

Muse from Meta is free, shows ads, and its October 24 notes say the update "adds support for iPhone Duo", plus a Home Screen widget and easier shopping in chat. According to its description, it can connect to your email, calendar and other accounts, and it says you approve actions before they happen. That is a lot of access to hand over, so read what you connect. It has a 4.85 rating from about 350,000 ratings.

This AI agent handles your busywork, from managing schedules and emails to tracking budgets and finding deals. It can also act as a fitness coach, build custom plans, and compare prices for shopping. You control what data it accesses and approve all actions.

Grok Bot from X Corp. is also free to download, but it is aimed at business hand-offs, such as inbox triage and work in vendor portals, and its paid tiers are listed at $25.99 (Pro), $77.99 (Pro+) and $259.99 (Ultra). It ships Duo screenshots, but its recent notes mention only design tweaks and bug fixes. The reviews we saw describe business use, such as paralegal-style document work. If you want an assistant for personal use, it is not the best fit.
