Extremely useful

I have several turntables of varying age, and some of them are not in working order. I’ve been repairing them but testing the RPM was kinda hard - until I got this app. Much easier to use than my old jerryrigged RPM meter: place the phone down and it does the rest. I would also suggest upgrading to the paid version, for more detail, if you’re doing something similar to me; if you’re just checking your turntable then I think the ad-supported version is fine. Would recommend.

Better than any strobe disc!

As a professional servicer of turntables and record changers, I find this app to be more valuable than any other on my phone. Incredibly accurate, and far easier to use than older methods of measuring speed, wow, and flutter.

Can’t tell if it’s worth anything!

Downloaded the free version to test before spending 4.99. It looks like it wants to work but you’re locked out of almost everything including the readout which locks after 20 seconds. Even worse it continuously goes to advertisements before that 20 seconds, like in 5 to 10 seconds so it’s not possible to even see if your table is stable. Thumbs down.

Sorry to hear you aren't got the best out of RPM. I understand the annoyance but for rpm providing more functionality up front would negate the need for most people to upgrade, and this is my living after all. Even though you only get limited time you can keep restarting the app to use again and again for evaluation. Thanks for your feedback.

Consider adding scrolling to Settings page

Settings page does not appear fully on smaller screen iPhone 4S and cannot be scrolled to show the rest of it.

Latest update does now enable scrolling on the Settings page, thanks for the suggestion.

Good for speed

This works very well for general speed accuracy, but is not so helpful for wow and flutter measurement unless you also place another identical weight phone on the platter to closely counterbalance the phone on which you’re running the app.

Without counterbalancing, the weight of the phone, necessarily placed off centre (even if close to the spindle), actually increases wow/flutter - checked by comparison with a test record and frequency measurement.

Hi, thanks for the great feedback. I agree that wow/flutter is affected the more the phone is placed off centre so for best measurement you should place the device directly over the centre - I use a thin piece if foam with a hole on the middle to support the phone above the centre.

Essential App For Record Enthusiasts

I have multiple turntables and am always repairing and upgrading my players. I needed to verify my turntable speed and buying a laser system was too expensive. I used this app and found it fulfills all my needs. Easy to use and data can even be stabilized while spinning for easy reading. My advice is to get the upgrade to unlock all the features. My tip: place a cup on the center of your turntable and put the phone on top. Love this app!
