Near Perfect!

This app is all around pretty amazing. The in-app integration of being able to talk to a health care educator is so convenient. I love absolutely everything about this app except for the fact that there’s no option to put you accidentally doubled up on your pill one day. Normally if you forget to take a pill, you put it into the app, and they tell you what to do, but if you accidentally double up, the app can’t help you, and you can’t log it, so you must reach out to one of their educators. If the app was to include this feature, I’d give it a 5 stars.

Now that we’ve got the negatives out of the way, let’s go over what’s great about this app. 1) The app allows you to require FaceID to open it, so someone being nosy can’t open your app with sensitive information. 2) They allow you to insert your individual birth control method, so the app is tailor fit to you. ( I’d suggest adding the option to add multiple methods being used at once, but the app still works great without it. ) 3) If you chose to use more than one app to track your periods and birth control, you can export the data out of the app easily. 4) They have a very compact and helpful FAQ integrated into the app. 5) The app is FREE, and there’s no free trial / pay to use features.

I LOVE THIS APP 💕

This app is amazing! I never ever forget to take my birth control pills EVER, because this app reminds me everyday at the same time that I chose. I love that it tracks my period, so I’m always aware of when I’m going to start so I can keep a tampon with me. I love the fact that everyday I can put in how my body is feeling and if I slept well and what moods I’m in for the day, so that if something ever happens, I can go back and see what my symptoms were. I also love that your information can be kept PRIVATE if you want to. You can put a password, so that when you click the app, you won’t be able to access it unless you use your fingerprint and/or your password. Love that option. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this app! You won’t regret it! It also lets you know if you missed a pill at all and it gives you all the information you need on the app if you have ANY questions! NO customer service needed!

Great but can be tweaked

I love Spot On! As a former Planned Parenthood employee, I was constantly advocating for this app whenever I started a patient on birth control or if they had already been on bc and just needed a tracker. The app is pretty solid and simple to use, but it really, REALLY needs the functionality of adding notes on each day. For example, a user might need to log that they took their pill but they took it late, or they had spotting but it was heavier than normal. Right now we only have the options of taking the pill or not and spotting or a full-on period. Being able to take notes would make it easier to talk to providers and tweak our bc if needed, or explore why we’re having certain symptoms. Also, it would be nice to have an alert or reminder that tells you what to do if you miss multiple pills, or at least gives different options, i.e. toss them and take today’s pill (to keep the schedule on track), or take them and extend your cycle by x number of days (so if you missed 3 pills, it would add 3 days to the cycle). I don’t know the exact logistics of that, but it would be helpful.

Incredibly Helpful

I’ve been using this app for I don’t even know how long. I’ve never had a “normal” cycle or period, ever since my very first one almost hospitalized me. I’ve never been very good at guessing when my period would come because it was so irregular. I downloaded this app to track my period and then I started using all of its awesome features. I started using this app before I was sexually active simply for the help it offered.
I tried many kinds of period control and almost nothing wanted to work for me but this app helped me keep track of everything I tried and the different ways it affected me. I recently got an IUD put in after much hesitation (the first time I tried the IUD it fell out on its own after a week and a half.) So far its been excellent in helping me track my periods, fertile days and moods. Now that I am sexually active it is so helpful also with keeping track of when I’ve had sex!
I love all the the features it offers and the helpful information. They are always adding new features and other important improvements to the app.
I recommend this app to every person with a uterus!

Great for tracking but could be more helpful

I love that this app keeps track of your bc and reminds you when to take the pill each day. However, besides helping me keep track of if I took it or not and when my period is it doesn’t really differentiate from any other typical calendar.

I wish there was a feature that provided more advice and prediction if I skipped a pill. Say I skipped one day by accident and doubled up on the pill the following day. I wish there was a way to track that, because for now it’s just “did you or did you not take it?” By tracking what days I had to double up it would help track if I’m more susceptible to getting pregnant since doubling up can effect this.

Sometimes I forget what days I had to double up on a pill so an additional feature where I can select “forgot pill” instead of “did not take” and then the next day giving the option of “took two pills” and then following it up with a warning on protection and being less protected so I don’t have to google it every time

More features needed

This app is a generally fine period tracker in that I can examine the personal information on the calendar and see trends. However, I’d like to echo the other commenters who note the necessity for a comment section so this information and its causes can be more accurately assessed. Unfortunately, I have two other problems as well. Firstly, I have a problem with my not taking birth control being equated with me taking “unknown” birth control. I cringe whenever I see that in my statistics and profile because “unknown” does not represent me. Second, the app does little to account for women of different ages and with medical conditions. Information about ovulation and exact periods is unlikely to be of use for an older woman going through perimenopause or an adolescent whose cycle is not yet regular and who may be experiencing more emotional highs and lows around the time they menstruate. Clearly the app cannot give everyone feedback on their personal menstrual health, but I would feel more comfortable being able to input my health concerns (I lost an ovary a couple years ago and have struggled with mood swings and hot flashes uncharacteristic of my age) and having more resources to browse in the resources tab concerning such topics.

Hi there, thank you for providing this detailed feedback, we really appreciate it. Regarding birth control in the app, please note that the app was made with the intention of helping audiences who are newly sexually active to track and manage their birth control to find the best method for their bodies. Regarding your method, we would recommend selecting "Other (e.g., condoms, don't need or use birth control, etc.)" in lieu of "I'm not sure," which will change your profile to "You're not tracking a method" instead of "Unknown." Please know we definitely want to help as many users as possible to understand their bodies, periods, and cycles, and strive to add features that help to accomplish this. For example, Customization for Mood/Body/Action, and adding items to the Calendar to view trends over time. We are working on larger updates to the app and hope to include more birth control options, more resources related to broader sexual and reproductive health, and more insights and advice to help users manage health concerns. Please feel free to email help@spotontracker.org if you have additional feedback to share!

It’s amazingly useful

It has settings where you can get reminders on when you’re supposed to get your period, when to take your birth control, when you’re next appointment is, and when certain symptoms should happen. Plus if you have any questions over your method of birth control, there is an FAQ, which is very helpful. Another plus is that you can track your mood, body feelings, actions, and your period. You can ever pick the emojis for each symptom, action, or mood. This app is very helpful with keeping up with both control, tracking your period and period symptoms, remembering your appointment dates, and can easily help birth control beginners get into the habit of taking it. You can even insert when you’re sexually active and it can tell you when you’re fertile and if you need to use a backup protection and why you should(such as a condom). It is a very well thought out and modern app that is very very useful and is even free?! Definitely recommend to download.

This app is fantastic!!

This app has really helped me, not only in tracking my period, but also in making sure that I’m monitoring other aspects of my life.

There is a “Mood” section, which allows you to track your mood over the duration of different cycles, and you can customize it with whatever moods you want to add, in addition to the default moods.

There is a “Body” section, which allows you to track symptoms, both in general, as well as period related symptoms.

There is an “Action” section, which I have found to be especially helpful. It allows you to track your eating, exercise, and self-care habits, and is, again, customizable. I have found that this helps me to stay on track with taking care of myself, and the app is very user friendly, so it’s not something I really have to push myself to remember to do.

The period tracking portion helps with knowing how heavy your cycle is on a daily basis.

The app also allows you to input your birth control method, which I’ve never had from a period tracker app before! It’s been really helpful in reminding me to take my pill, and in terms of helping me to know when my next cycle will be in relation to my other plans.

I hadn’t used a period tracking app since starting birth control but this app got be back into tracking it, and I’ve found it to be incredibly useful and user friendly. Definitely worth downloading!

Love using this app! But slight improvements can make it better!

I began to use this app on the day I visited Planned Parenthood to start my first birth control method (pills).

This app literally keeps me on track by reminding me to take my pill everyday, the same time, and it keeps record of all the days you pressed “yes” if you took the pill for the day so that if you feel unsure, forgot, or must take two pills if you missed, you can check and proceed to take action to get back on track. They also have a feature where you can add any symptoms, feelings, or when you stated your period as of well as the flow to look back on to see any changes or differences.

I gave this app four stars because as a suggestion, this app can improve if it can have an option where people can make an account or not. My phone suddenly stopped working and the four month progress I had put time to keep track of my moods, my side effects, and my period is now gone. I can’t look back on those four months to compare it to a new pill I was switched to. I would really hate to lose all of the progress I have made in the app to keep track of everything again. Thank you!

Ditched another app for this one

I’ve had it for 8 months now. However because my bc pill has never been added, my calendar will always be off. Knowing that there are tons of different types of BC and you may never actually get them all in there, it would be nice to be able to edit the pill slider. Because even though I am able to make a personal account for my pill, it still won’t take exactly how many pills are in there in calculation. So I end up having this problem where it thinks I’m on pill 12 but I’m actually at the end of my pack.

It’s good for just keeping the calendar of your period and such but if you are like me who likes everything sewed up and organized, this might shake you a bit because of some of the inaccuracies that will start to happen. And then instead of just editing what pill you are on, it makes you wipe all of your data and you have to re-enter it. It’s such a pain.

Other than that though, the calendar has come in handy for someone like me who never gets her period and has to scroll through months for the doctor to get to her last day.
